This was our first time fishing the Potomac and Captain Darnell made it a great one! He was there prepared and ready for us to board and depart. He ensured the kids were set up safe, then asked what kind of action we’re looking to for… that’s when you know it’ll be a good day. We immediately got into some rapid white perch action once we dropped lines. Now stocked with fresh cut bait we pressed on up river in search of blues to a few quiet fishing holes. It started slow, but yielded great results!! Captain Darnell worked hard to find and keep us on the fish. My boys each caught their fill and even reeled in a slob to mark a PB for my oldest, which is exactly what we set out to do! Captain Darnell was kind, patient, and informative. Thank you for the great service Sir!!!!

We had the pleasure of sailing with Darnell. He was very pleasant from the moment we arrived on the boat until the very end. He is very hands on and helpful. A few of us were first time fishers, including two children and he worked with us to make sure we caught as many fish as possible. The ride was super smooth and he used his expertise to hit all of the hot spots unconditionally despite the weather. We will definitely be sailing again and recommend him to anyone looking to experience a great day on the water!!

Captain D was very professional and courteous. He had everything ready to go including swapping out setup when we switched what fish to go for! My pops and my boys went and it was one of the best fishing experiences I have had!!

Excellent experience for my grandson’s first fishing trip. Captain Darnell was fantastic and provided a wealth of knowledge. I do not think we could have found a better charter.  We caught a lot of fish and will definitely use this charter again.

My husband and I wanted to take our two young boys out. There are other options on the island that are much more commercialized with the purpose of entertaining (parties and corporate), sunset cruising, and toting folks that may not want to fish. That was not our purpose. We just simply wanted to fish. Captain D called me ahead of our trip to discuss changing times based on his past weeks fishing experience. He said no one had been catching anything in the afternoons so he suggested the morning time instead. We weren’t going to not catch fish so we took his advice and changed to the AM. Glad we did too. We took Captain D’s smaller boat out (that still included a bathroom and covered cabin). Captain D was a laid back man who made the experience enjoyable and relaxing. We drove to the first spot and when the fish weren’t nibbling, he knew not to waste much time and took us to a new spot. We ended up taking home 30 white perch on our trip and had a fantastic fish taco dinner recommended by Captain D after our trip. While my family may like to fish for more than 4 hours sometimes, the 4-hr trip is a nice short option to get a little fishing done and still have the rest of your day to do stuff and not be completely exhausted. Some extended charters can be super draining, especially when basking in the heat and/or when not catching anything. When we got back, Captain D filleted our fish nicely and we were on our way. Overall it was good experience and we definitely recommend Captain D if an easygoing fishing experience is what you’re looking for.
