- I grew up in Destin as a child and loved to fish. I fished on the piers, in the bay, and on local lakes, you name it around here I fished it. I caught a 9 ft. bull shark on crystal beach pier when I was in the 7th grade. I was destined to become a professional fisherman and a Captain. I caught the first tarpon ever to be caught from a boat in Destin and then later caught the first one to be ever caught on a charter boat in Destin. I was President of the Destin Charter Boat Association for 14 years, served on the Board for National Association of Charter Boat Operators, needless to say I have been very involved in this business to ensure that it remains a viable fishery for all us to enjoy. I am very proud of my vessel the PHOENIX, so come join me for a great fishing experience.
- Techniques
- I build and have built a lot of private artificial reefs, so I enjoy taking customers to them for their bottom fishing. Whether we are fishing for Big Red Snapper and Grouper or Big Amberjacks it's a thrill. I also enjoy fishing for Big King Mackerel with light tackle on some of my artificial reefs. There is nothing like trolling big baits and watching 40-50 lb. Kings come out of the water (skyrocket) after the bait, then about 100 yards of line smokes off the reel. I also enjoy a good day offshore fishing the blue water for Marlin, Wahoo and Mahi-Mahi. I troll rigged baits (old school) with light tackle Penn International 30's and 50's. . You get a much better hook up ratio when trolling with baits vs trolling with lures. We will also fish tide lines for big Bull Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) with light tackle TLD 30's.
