Background
Captain Manuel Gabuardi has been fishing the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica for 34 years and has been the captain of the GOOD DAY for 21 years. Capt. Manuel knows the Quepos waters immensely, and is so passionate about fishing and loves nothing more than taking our guests from all over the world to experience the best fishing that Costa Rica has to offer. Owner & mate of GOOD DAY Benn Gilmour is from the UK & has been fishing around the world all of his life. Benn loves Offshore fishing for Marlin, Sailfish & Big Tuna. Inshore his favorite species are Roosterfish, Snook & Cubera Snappers.
Techniques
Inshore I love flyfishing and light tackle lure fishing with plugs, spoons and softplastics for Roosterfish, Snook & Snappers. In Costa Rica, a freelined live bait works so well also and provides excellent and often very visual sport. Offshore, I love Billfish and have a total obsession with Marlin!! In Costa Rica we are lucky in that we have Blues, Blacks and Stripeys so together with our excellent Sailfish fishing a Grand Slam is always a possibility! I love fishing for Tuna, Mahi, Wahoo, Grouper & Amberjacks also. The lighter the tackle, the better!

Another stellar day aboard GOOD DAY yesterday here at Marina Pez Vela Costa Rica. Stunning weather with blue skies, flat calm seas & great fishing! We enjoyed a nice Sailfish & Dorado bite with everyone catching fish but the star of the show was 11 year old Brock who caught 2 Sailfish & 2 Dorado including the biggest Dorado of the day, a 53โ€ Bull & the biggest Sail of 108โ€ (9 feet!) & est. around 100lbs. Catch Report 4 for 7 Sailfish 6 Dorado Heading back out there shortly, wish us luck! ??

Just a superb day on the water yesterday aboard GOOD DAY here at Marina Pez Vela Costa Rica. It is hard to imagine our guests having a more enjoyable time, they had a total blast from start to finish, their smiles & excitement from the moment they stepped on the boat were so infectious & such a great reminder of why we do what we do. Traveling all the way from Hungary Norbert, Eva & their 10 year old son Kende, it was a dream come true for them to be fishing on the Pacific Ocean with us. We enjoyed some fantastic action with Dorados and each of the guys caught their first ever Sailfish with the largest of the day at 100โ€ & about 90lbs going to 10 year old Kende. The little guy was helping me clean fish, wash up the boat & he was hollering to nearby passing boats throughout the day as he did battle with Dorados. Such a fantastic little guy & a great Angler! Catch Report - 23 Dec 15 Dorados 3 for 4 Sailfish 2 Rainbow Runners Merry Christmas everyone, weโ€™re taking a couple of days off now to enjoy with the kids & weโ€™ll be back at it on 26th! ????

Great to have Tom from England Fishing with us yesterday. We had a bit of bad luck on the Sailfish, raising 7, 4 teased nicely & 2 bit the Fly but both came quickly undone. Tom caught 4 nice Dorados on the Fly which was a blast & we found some Spinner Dolphins but the Tuna did not want to bite. Heading back out there now, wish us luck! ??
