Brett, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry that your trip did not turn out the way you hoped, especially when it was meant to be a special day with your kids.
Winter fishing conditions can be unpredictable, and that morning brought cold temperatures and strong winds that made for a challenging bite. Even so, Captain Hector continued working to put your group on fish, and there was an opportunity where a fish was hooked and he encouraged the kids to reel it in and enjoy the moment, though it unfortunately didn’t work out that time.
When the larger fish weren’t cooperating, Captain Hector also planned to move to a snapper spot so the kids could feel some action, enjoy the excitement of getting bites, and avoid ending the trip empty-handed. Ultimately, the decision was made to return early, and we fully understand how the conditions and the day’s circumstances contributed to that choice.
Captain Hector is a dedicated and experienced captain who genuinely cares about his guests and works hard to create positive trips, even on difficult days. While we can’t control the weather or fish activity, we can control our effort, professionalism, and how we treat our customers—and we take that responsibility seriously.
We never want families, especially children, to leave feeling discouraged about fishing. That’s not the experience we strive to deliver, and trips like this are not representative of the outings most of our guests enjoy.
