Background: I started fishing with my father as a little boy and continued as a captain after graduating from the University of San Diego in 1990. In 1997, the first Purple Jet arrived and we have been putting smiles on customers' faces ever since! The Queen Mary Open Party Fishing boat became part of the fleet in 2011.
Techniques: I prefer light tackle over heavy or trolling any day! We do it all and hope to put a nice catch together everyday. I also have no problem changing it up when necessary!

Bill, So glad you had a nice trip. I know it was lots of riding and trying many spots but we found a good bunch of fish late in the day to put smiles on most of the patrons faces. Hope to see you aboard again later this season Thanks Capt Dave

The captain and crew were experienced and helpful. The boat and equipment were in very good condition. That is all I can say that was good about the trip! The boat was completely full. The ad said there was a 30 person minimum but never mentioned the maximum!!! There were at least 65 people on our particular trip, besides the captain and crew! When the boat stopped for us to fish, it was mayhem because the lines were constantly getting tangled. Additionally, the boat never left sight of... More

Joe,
You were aboard on a weekend trip with nice weather? Yes, its very crowded every weekend in season, even more so when the weather is excellent. This is the case for the whole industry. If you prefer a bit more room please consider a weekday or a sunday in the fall when football is played for the Giants, Jets & Eagles, if you must fish on a weekend. I was not the Captain for your trip but the book says fishing was fair to OK that day. As for fishing the bay that is absolute absurd! He was between 2-6 miles off the beach in the Atlantic Ocean and as far as 18 miles North of our inlet. We fish within site of land for weeks at a time. For the whole Month of July we were 18-25 miles straight out, meaning no land in site. Since mid August we have been fishing within site of land most days and catch fish well most days. Fish swim and move around. We try and find em! Many days in late fall we are practically on the beach catching Blues and Stripers.
