We managed a 6h charter and caught barracuda and mahi mahi. The crew worked to try and catch.
We did not manage the target marlin/ sailfish… but alas, it may have been ambitious.

That said, we had arranged an 8h trip and I had spoken to the captain/leader the day before, and for some months before that, about the experience and fishing in Mexico. We were buzzing for the full day experience at sea and arrived early, before 7am.

Upon arrival at the dock, we were told that the boat had been booked by someone else who had “already gone out fishing” and that they had “no record of our booking”. I found this bizarre and hugely disappointing given my mentioned communications.

We had to accept a shorter outting (6h) or rearrange our session to another day- which, of course, we couldn’t do as our holiday excursions were all fixed.

This was massively disappointing and not what we had agreed nor planned for. Especially when you build yourself up to this experience all year in advance as a keen fisherman! I leave with mixed feelings about this trip. I enjoyed the shorter fishing session that they managed (as I would any new fishing experience) but I am disappointed that I did not get what I booked/ what I had saved for, for much of the year in advance. It isn’t cheap! I would not recommend only on this organisational basis.

The fishing looked extremely promising in this region nonetheless. I’d go again, but with another charter.

Whole booking process was great. No issues what so ever. Fishing was slow but that’s the way it goes sometimes. Caught a nice size kingfish, two amberjacks and one red snapper. The largest amberjack CPT cleaned and filleted it then had the Lighthouse restaurant cook it for our lunch.
Great time with some great guys.

The day started with Captain Alberto saying “Today we’ve got to catch a Mahi Mahi, a Sailfish and a Tuna” - mission accomplished. If you love fishing and you wanna catch fish - BOOK THIS TRIP!
