Today was beautiful from the start, but wind went from 0 to 60 faster than a corvette. So, we found a two hour window in the weather (wind) and ran with it. Catching started slow, then we missed one and picked up a throwback. We fished about 20 more minutes and decided to make a move. As we reeled in, we picked up another throwback. (A few days ago, we picked up a keeper and 10 throwbacks in 30 minutes at same spot.) After a five minute ride, the wind struck! I added weight to our rigs and changed out baits. Our drifts went from .6 miles per hour to 1.8 mph. The wind didn’t gradually build, it was like light switch. The trip was 80% over, but we stayed at it. With two hours up, I decided to add some extra time and fished a spot somewhat hidden from gusty winds. We fished an extra 30 minutes and no hits. The weather guys underestimated the blow, for sure, but my crew hung in there. No doubt, my crew learned some new fishing techniques and will be more than ready for their next trip!

We had a two hour trip, today. In first hour, we caught one fish. In hour two, the bite got much better with two 18” fish caught and a few throwbacks caught, too. The weather was gorgeous, but gnats were starting to swarm until wind picked up. (Keep gnats in mind during May and early June.) Water was a chilly 53 degrees, but that didn’t stop all the Egrets, geese, herons and terns from providing great displays of our backbay nature system. We left the dock at 9:00 AM for a two-hour trip. It eas 75 degrees, blue sky and 10mph SW wind. Within 5 minutes of dropping the first line, we caught a flounder, then a Kingfish, then Sand-Sharks, then a flounder…lots of fun with catching and some misses for this group of hard-working first-timers. As far as fishing trips go, this was about as good as it gets, in everyway.

We started this morning and it was 58 degrees! ? Headed out to the ocean and caught fish; came inside and caught fish. We watched several boats head out to the reefs, only to return 45 minutes later and fish inside. Water is clearing up, but it’s far from clear. So, switching up baits is important. I had a great father-son fishing team, today! It didn’t take long for either to master the catching part. I hope to see you guys back!!! —Capt. Chris ???

In our quick trip, we hit a calm ocean. We caught croakers and a weakfish, and decided to move. As we moved there was a pod of dolphins jumping six feet out of the water! What a show! We caught a few more fish and headed back inside to catch some flounder. A lot to see and do in just two hours. A fine fishing trip in every way! ????

I took out this father-n-son team for a Birthday celebration. Water is still kinda cloudy, but it’s improving. The bite is improving, too. Aside from catching flounder, sharks and croakers, we started off watching a pod of dolphins hunting for their fish. Today was all-around perfect…no humidity, dolphins, blue sky, 5 mph wind, some fish, great people and a Birthday celebration fishing trip between a dad and his boy. I love it!!! ????
