- Background
- As a youth, having spent all my summers since birth on an island in Northern Ontario, it was either pick blueberries or catch fish. So I chose the latter (ok, maybe I picked a few blueberries too!) When the time was right I hired on at a local lodge and had the good fortune to hone my skills as a guide. Winters were spent in Florida fishing the Gulf Coast waters, including the bays and flats from Tampa Bay to the Florida Keys. Having moved to Traverse City in 1989, I quickly adapted to the cold water fishery that presented itself to me. After years of fishing leagues, tournaments and recreational fishing, I acquired my Captains License and embarked on my re-creation as a guide and charter captain. There has never been another option for me in my spare time and providing these opportunities to others has become an absolute passion!
- Techniques
- Downriggers, divers and planer boards pretty much sums it up. Trolling, whether shallow or deep is the norm with occasional jigging.
