Half Day Trip (AM) • 2 adults

Adam was on time at the launch and ready to go. We started out fishing for salmon but they are late cming in got the season. So, we headed out to deeper water for lake trout. We each caught our limit! Adam is very experienced and each fish was netted successfully. Thank you again for a wonderful morning!

Good operator -- less than ideal weather

Half Day Trip (AM) • 2 adults

I would not hesitate to go out with this charter again. The ONLY reason I did not go a full 5 stars is because the winds came up and the Captain decided to pull up the lines early and head in. While this was a safe decision and I was fine with it, it did cut our trip from 4 hours to 2-1/2. It would have been nice to offer a rebate on the trip (we paid in full).

    Chinook Salmon

Captain Adam definitely falls on the safer side for Peaples wellbeing. If we bring you out , we definitely want to bring you back alive.. Sorry that mother nature , showed ugly teeth , but that is how SHE works Sometimes. As far as a rebate We have the Cheapest 2 Person rates in the Area so there is Not much profit room as is. Sorry Hope we can get you out in the future and make up the time. Thanks Capt.Kent and Crew

    Solid Fishing Day

Half Day Trip (AM) - Charlevoix • 6 adults

The sun broke over Lake Michigan as the water came alive beneath the boat. Captain Russell put us on the fish as the reel screamed, and the fight was on. A trophy salmon and enough trout to feed a family of 12 for days.

    Response from Charter operator

Thanks for choosing whitecap charters for your up north fishing experience. Hope to see you in the future. Thanks again capt. Kent and Crew

MOTHER NATURE HAS A BAD ATTITUDE

Aug 5, 2026 • Charlevoix
With The small craft advisories, high winds, and waves over the last 10 days or so Fishing has definitely been a little slower than normal. Lake Trout are still around in good numbers but have moved out to deeper water. Kings are starting to show up in the deeper water, but not in any large numbers yet out of the Port of Charlevoix. The port of Petoskey and Little Traverse Bay has been doing a little better as far as kings go. The BEST bite In both ports has been as the sun rises or sets..

Hello MOTHER NATURE

Jul 1, 2026 • Charlevoix
With a high winds and rain , along with extreme hot weather , it is amazing that the fishing has stayed as good as it has. Great numbers of large 15 plus pound lake trout have been boated over the last week. King salmon have been starting to show up in the area.

Time to Target the Atlantic Salmon on To

Apr 4, 2023 • Traverse City
The Atlantic salmon is one of the most elusive fish on the Torch Lake chain. The Atlantic salmon is like catching a king salmon with a steelhead attitude about jumping out of the water and twisting around at the back of the boat. April and May we can find them in the shallow Waters using long lines and smaller baits.

Fishing Report Port of Charlevoix

Aug 31, 2020 • Charlevoix
Fishing out of the port of Charlevoix has moved to the shallow Waters for king salmon. On Lake Michigan they are being caught in front of the Medusa cement plant in 10 to 30 FOW and on the drop off at 90 ft using J plugs, j-13 in the fire tiger colors and still on Geen or White flasher with a Green KRW Fly in the deeper water. On Lake Charlevoix they have been fishing around the Coast Guard Station also using J plugs and spoons. Farther down Lake Charlevoix towards Boyne City they are fishing the holes in front of whiting's Park and Summercrest 70 to 80 ft dodown oer about a hundred feet of water. Lake Trout Fishing have Been Great with larger size fish(12-20#) as long as weather holds. The perch are starting to show up around the area hoping you have a good season
