This was definitely one of the best fishing trips I have ever experienced.
As,soon,as we arrived we were greeted by Ricardo and Joao with joy and professionalism. The boat was ready and we left immediately spotting a very rare monk seal right at the exit of the Harbour.
As we headed out they explained us alot about the island and its stories from the coastal view, they really know their island well.
As soon as we started fishing we quickly all caught a barrucuda….followed throughout the morning of several other fish using different fishing techniques.
I can’t remember the names of the fishes but Ricardo knew them all. He is such an expert..and he was just as enthusiastic as we were with every catch.
You can’t go wrong with somone as passionate as Ricardo.
I will definitely go on the same trip with Ricardo everyrime I go to Madeira..it was really the highlight of my vacation.

We had an absolutely fantastic fishing trip with Ricardo and his co-captain João. We were lucky with perfect weather, the ocean was as flat as a mirror, but what truly made the day exceptional was the crew. Ricardo and João are incredibly skilled at reading the water, navigating to the right spots, and positioning the boat perfectly for different techniques and target species. You immediately feel you’re in expert hands.

We visited several locations and fished exclusively with lures. Since we usually fish with bait, it took us a little time to adjust to this more active style. But after the very first strike (even though we didn’t manage to hook that barracuda!), we were hooked ourselves. It’s such an engaging, hands-on, and genuinely fun way to fish, exciting from start to finish.

After giving our shoulders quite the workout, we had a short break while trolling with two lures on the way to the next spot. That’s when we successfully hooked and reeled in a large barracuda, an unforgettable fight and an amazing reward. We later added two beautiful red snappers and a grouper through light jigging. Altogether, we caught the freshest fish imaginable, enough to prepare delicious lunches and dinners for the rest of the week of our holiday in Madeira (we even made great use of the public BBQ facilities, see photos!).

Ricardo and João were warm, patient, and generous with their knowledge, answering all our questions along the way. Their experience and professionalism truly stand out, but they also make the whole experience relaxed and fun.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day on the water. Highly, highly recommend!
