Background
Born and raised in South Florida, I have always had an affinity for water and drawn to it. My most fond memories growing up all revolve around playing sports and having a rod in my hand. Form an early age, my excitement for fishing trips would keep me awake in anticipation of the next days adventure.. As I've grown older and maybe a little wiser, my passions have only grown. While we had lots of success, the days of little to no success would drive me crazy and pushed me to practice my craft and try to learn more and more. Fishing to me is not just a passion, it is a way of life. Plus, the views out of my office are pretty sweet. I traded in a job wearing a suit and tie to spend my days on the water, teaching and educating anglers. I often get told this is the biggest grouper, snapper, amberjack, etc etc Ive ever caught. This puts a genuine smile and grin on my face. It is something I strive to do, and take pride in doing regularly.
Techniques
Being on the West Coast of Florida, our offshore fishing centers around our bottom fishing. We are often fishing locked down drags for heavy grouper. It is a 10 foot tug of war. You beat him that 10 ft, you most likely will become the victor. Give it too much time and it will go back into its hole and rock you up or worse, break you off. We also fish over some of the wrecks and high relief structure for trophy size species like amberjack, barracuda, sharks, goliath grouper, and more. Amberjack are known as reef donkeys as they fight and kick from top to bottom, giving you one heck of a workout. They can make blistering runs pinning you up against the rails of the boat. We primarily fish with dead or live baits. Most of our fishing is done either at anchor, or at drift ( which the world cat does a great job of!) If your goal is to catch fish jigging, or on ariticials, you are welcome to bring your jigs and lures. The captain will be happy to tell you his favorite gear and tackle.
