- Fishing is truly a family tradition for Captain Edgar Meza – his whole family, including his grandfather and father, were in the fishing business, and he always knew he wanted to follow in their footsteps! He's now been working for over 15 years as a captain, but has been an avid angler for much longer than this. He loves nothing more than going out on the water, spending time with people, and looking for big fish, of course! He can't wait to introduce you to these plentiful waters.
- Techniques
- I always try to stay in the know and follow the big ships, as this is where most of the action happens. If we’re not catching anything, we’ll switch spots immediately. I like to use feather lures and 80% of the time we hook into unexpected species. This surprise factor is one of the main reasons I love fishing so much. I also make sure to gear up with quality fluorocarbon fishing line. This is another one of my favorites and I bait all of the lines myself to ensure success. The combination of fluorocarbon fishing line and feather lures is a recipe for success when it comes to hooking Mahi Mahi, Yellowtail Snapper, and Grouper.
