I practice almost all types of fishing. I manage and direct my own fishing, nautical and tourism services, and graduated in Social Communication and Counseling. During part of my working life I worked in corporate companies, managing the commercialization of services with global clients, which has led to me becoming fluent in 3 languages. When I go on vacation, I choose destinations where I can combine my free time and plenty of rest and relaxation with...fishing!

Today we went for a short trip. There was a light north/northwest wind. The tide was coming in and there was plenty of sunshine. The water temperature is 27 degrees Celsius. All the bites were on rigs with one or two hooks, fishing in mid-water. We used small live baitfish. The best fishing was in an area of sandbars, with depths of no more than 3 feet. Today we went on a 6-hour excursion. We left the port around noon. The tide was in its last two hours of incoming flow. We had a light east-northeast wind. We sailed for approximately 45 minutes to a very good fishing spot at this time of year. It's a series of sandbars and channels with a strong current. Many small fish move there, which are the main food source for golden dorado. We began our first drift over a very hard sandbar, in no more than 3 feet of water. There we had the first bites and managed to land our first golden dorado. As we ran out of water for our drift, we moved to different spots. In all of them, we had very good bites from dorado ranging from 3 to 7 kilos. We used size 10 hooks, tied to 80-pound steel leaders. Today, none of our lines had weights, so all the baits worked in mid-water. In the mid-afternoon, we had a delicious snack. There were different kinds of cold cuts, cheeses, and olives. Around 5 PM, with the wind shifting to the southeast, we began our return to port. The fishing trip yielded: 7 dorado caught on the boat, others that managed to escape, and a new experience fishing on the widest river in the world: the Rรญo de la Plata. Captain Mauricio

Today we're going to talk a little about numbers! When we set out, the tide was at 1.80 meters above sea level and going out. We returned with it at 65 cm above sea level. The fishing trip lasted 6 hours. Two fishermen came and managed to land 10 golden dorado on the boat. 4 more got away alongside the boat. Some of the golden dorado were within the average weight for this time of year (2-3 kilos). Others weighed up to 6 kilos and had their stomachs full of fish. We used size 10 hooks with 30 cm steel leaders. We started the morning with 18 live baits. We finished fishing with 4 baits. Which indicates that the percentage of fish hooked was very high. The water temperature is 22 degrees Celsius, and the air temperature started at 20 degrees in the morning and reached 29 degrees by the time we returned. Another beautiful day of fishing, very close to Buenos Aires, on the widest river in the world (Rio de la Plata). See you soon! Captain Mauricio

Today we spent half a day fishing. We had a strong north-northwesterly wind, which made fishing in the open river very difficult. For this reason, we fished at the mouths of small streams along the Rio de la Plata. We used 9/0 hooks with 10-gram sinkers on an 80-pound steel leader. For bait, we used small yellow catfish we caught locally and small "sรกbalos" we caught with a cast net before setting out. When small golden dorados were biting, we used only pieces of bait. For larger ones, we used live fish with a leader looped over their backs. The river was ebbing all day, much more than usual due to the wind direction. We had many strikes from golden dorados and piranhas of various sizes. We managed to land a few. Around 3 p.m., we began our return to port, with the river much calmer than the one we had experienced during the outbound voyage. We had a wonderful day of fishing! We started the day with the Ain River rising. The water temperature was around 20 degrees Celsius, with a slight north/northeast turn. The first casts were at the mouths of streams that bring clear water and plenty of small fish, which are food for the golden dorado. We set some lines with natural bait (preferably pieces of yellowtail catfish caught locally) and eels. The clear water and the fish's constant predisposition allowed us to also fish with artificial lures. Until midday, we fished in this area and were able to land several small and medium-sized golden dorados and some permit and piranhas. As the tide began to change, we also changed locations and navigated to the banks and channels well out in the river. The wind was also changing and was now shifting to the east/southeast. In this area, we chose to drift fish. We used larger bait (sabalos and medium-sized yellowtails) on lines rigged with steel leaders and without any weights, so that our baits could work as freely as possible. During this second part of the day, we were able to land several dorados weighing between 5 and 7 kilos, which put up a tough fight. The oddity of the day was that spinning isn't usually done in the middle of the Rio de la Plataโ€”the widest river in the world. The chances of landing dorado using this type of fishing are extremely low. Nevertheless, my client began casting, alternating lures and searching at different depths. The point was that we could see the golden dorado hunting quite close to our boat until one of them, about 6 kilos, fiercely took one of the lures. The golden dorado, with quick and powerful runs, forced the angler to completely circle the boat. This is the first time, in 37 years of guiding on the Rio de la Plata, that I've seen a golden dorado take a lure in the middle of the river, using the spinning method. Congratulations to the angler! Today we chose a banked area crossed by a channel, approximately a 45-minute boat ride from the port. We fished with the river rising for about three hours and the rest of the day with the river falling. All fishing was done by drifting. We took advantage of the wind to cross the channel several times, heading northwest to southeast. On most of our passes, we found the fish feeding close to the bank on the windward side. We used floating lines (with a buoy) and midwater lines. We used small live fish as bait. Graphite and carbon rods. Front and rotating reels were loaded with 30-pound multifilament line. The air temperature in the morning was 5 degrees Celsius and reached 16 degrees Celsius by midday. The water temperature remained between 14.8 and 15.9 degrees Celsius throughout the day. We finally landed three golden dorado and several catfish. Many thanks to my anglers today! It was a pleasure sharing my boat with them. Captain Mauricio
