We learned when we got on the boat that it’s pretty hard to catch fish this time of year.  We went out 3 hours and did get one rainbow trout.  Guides Edwin and David moved us to different spots and were helpful with bait and lines.  Nice to be on water - easy in and out at the marina.  If you’re planning to do anything longer than a couple hours, I would find out in advance if people are catching fish … otherwise it’s a long time to be out there with minimal seating, etc.  As long... It was our first time in Costa Rica and decided we wanted to do both fresh and salt water fishing. First stop was Lake Arenal, and we did a half day tour.  The captain and crew were very nice and welcoming. Even though the weather was not the greatest, we still managed to catch a few rainbow bass and machaca.  Both were species we had never caught before, so it was pretty cool to add those to our list. I would definitely recommend this tour, and would book again. Pura Vida!

Marc and his crew were great.  They worked hard and were knowledgeable.  I arrived a little early so we started a little early but still fished until sunset.  I wanted to flyfish some.  It was super windy and Marc doesn’t advertise as a fly fishing guide, but his guys tried hard to put me on some Machaca and found a sheltered cove we could fish them in.  (Note: I brought all of my own fly fishing gear and flies.). Would recommend and use Marc’s service again!

Although we didn’t catch much, my wife and I had a blast. Fishing can be like the lottery, it’s never guaranteed you’ll catch something. However, the crew were amazing and super helpful. I would recommend this to anyone!

Great views of the volcano the whole trip.  Captain and mate nice local guys familiar with the lake.  Caught a few smaller Rainbow bass casting early and one REALLY nice big one jigging deep. Its nice cruising around the lake in the morning.
