We are SO PROUD for this catch using the famous trolling technic, it was hard, but in the end, we won. The Wahoo is an exotic fish; that's why it is difficult to find and even harder to catch; his teeth are pretty sharp, and he sometimes manages to cut the fishing lines. This specimen is usually under 50 feet on the water and close to the reef. Now it's time to enjoy this catch?! The best way is on ceviche or the grill.

Its oficial! After first mahi mahis starting bitting a few weeks ago we can now say that one of our favorite season have started with the rainy season. Water has started to warm, big baitballs forming at the continental drops and crazy organic debry flushing from rivers into open ocean creating amazing driftlines to target pelagics. From now until December Dorado, Tuna, Sailfish within others will be the specialty during our fishing charters

What puts Panama in the world fishing map is the spots between the southern Pacific islands and their proximity to the underwater nutrient rich continental shelf. Deep sea fishing for pelagics like billfish, mahi mahi and wahoo are top! However coastal fishing on this end of the world is nothing to ignore. On this charter we had clients only interested in jigging and popping. NO TROLLING! Professional gear, experienced crew and a massive amount of secret spots on our chart plotter with underwater structure and stip drops made this an amazing option! Cubera snapper, grouper, rooster fish, Corvina, triggerfish, amberjack, tuna and many other makes this a top of the line trip!

Water is starting to get cool and that means that the reef water meeting open ocean becomes our favorite fishing areas. Why? Well, enormous bait ball schools start to form, minnows, sardines, and our favorite: blue runners! They will become an attraction for big fish. As we approach the islands we pass from 200 feet plus waters to structures between 80 and 40 feet on average. A lot of upwelling creates nutrient-rich waters. So as our fishing guides suggest, always troll around these areas before going for a swimming break at the islands. In our set of lures we mainly put sinkers and deep divers, however always leave a surface lure, either a plug or a fake squid with a nice skirt for the occasional pelagic like Mahi, Tuna, or billfish. This time sailfish was the species of the moment! It was a 100+ pound monster, that hit our outer surface lure at around 60 feet deep water. Our client immediately took the rod, and we pulled in all the other lines. Like always, the rest of the family became cheerleaders putting pressure on the fisherman not to let the sailfish run away. It was an intense battle with several fights from the fish taking line, but our angler never surrendered. We managed to bring the sailfish next to the boat, snap a few pictures with our trophy monster, the crew grabbed it by the bill, out with the hook, stabilized them in the sea, and slow ahead until we saw the fish was frisky again for a successful release. We decided to stay a bit longer cruising around the structures, reefs, and bait balls; and managed to get other bites like tuna and Mahi. What a magical day at sea onboard with gem charters!

Fishing has been an amazing, all our fishing charters are equipped with a complete fishing catering so satisfy all costumers fishing styles. We had a family visiting from New Jersey and chose one of our trending trips (2 days at the Pearl islands Archipiรฉlago, spending the night in comfortable accomodations at the islands). We boarded at Panama City and did some deepseafishing on the 35 nautical mile cruise to the islands with tuna, mahi and wahoo bites. Once we started approaching the islands we stop at a marked structural reef we have and threw or vertical jiggs. Magic happened once we started getting bites from monter amberjacks. Our professional captain and fishing guide claims it has been one the biggest captured amberjacks on board! Like always the idea is to maximize your time on board so always count with several stops on the beautiful surrounding islands to snorkel and relax on islands includingthe famous islans where they filmed the tv reality show Survivor, recommended to add our special Mixed Tropical BBQ to your charter!
