Captain Blake Nelson is the owner of Last Cast Charters. He grew up in Destin, FL, and has been fishing the Choctawhatchee Bay and Gulf Coast his whole life. He and his brother began fishing in professional Redfish tournaments after college as a hobby, and eventually, it became a career. He’s placed first in the IFA Redfish Tour and has won several other inshore fishing awards as well. In 2017, he became the world champion of the Destin Cobia Tournament after landing a 98.5 lb Cobia, the biggest one caught in 10 years. He decided to start his own charter service in 2008 because he loves meeting new people and sharing his passion with others. He’s made a lot of friends on the water and is looking forward to taking you on the adventure of a lifetime. Depending on the boat you book, your captain may also be Capt. Mitchell, Capt. We are getting speckled trout, redfish, sheepshead and pompano in the bay as well as sheepshead and flounder in the gulf (nearshore) right now. Artificial lures have been working along with live bait, primarily live shrimp.

We had a blast this afternoon with a good redfish bite. Got on them in shallow water around a few docks using live bait. Caught one that was pushing 10 lbs and the rest were midslots in the 3-5 lb range. Destin inshore fishing at its best!
