You should have seen the ones that got away and the huge snappers, amber jacks, and triggers that we had to release! We had a great time and pulled in fish all morning.

The water was calm and the boat ran great. The boat did not have air conditioning but luckily it wasn’t too hot. Nick the deck hand told us the fish was finicky and he was correct. Listening to nick and the captain I did catch a huge red snapper. We only caught the one huge snapper. If we wasn’t catching fish the captain would move to another spot. We are sorry that we could not get our AC repaired in time for your trip, but the new unit was delayed in shipping and out of our control. The captain was working hard to put you on fish that would bite as the bite has been extremely slow in July due to the storms. With 50 years of experience, our captain can tell if a spot will produce fish, and he doesn’t hang around to waste time if the bottom machine shows little promise.

This was a great trip. The only regret that I have is that we didn’t book a longer trip. We had some rough waters to deal with and a storm coming in that ended our trip a little early, but that was no fault of the crew. Southern Hooker is a family business and they do a really good job with kids that are fishing for the first time. It was a lot of fun and we’d definitely book with them again.
