- I am a Southern California native and have been an avid angler since the age of 3. Dana Point is rated one of the best fishing spots in Southern California, with only about a 5-minute voyage to get out of the harbor and into the fishing spots. When I had boats in Huntington and Newport, it took me almost an hour to get out of the harbor. I own a fast boat in a small harbor which means more fishing time for you. I purchased a couple of boats and bought a house across the street to follow my dream job – fishing!
