First, Capt Clinton has a large personality - he’s engaging, and joined right in the banter my boys and I are accustomed to with each other.

The way the day started, I thought we were going to hit our limit early. But, with the new regulations of 18”-27”, it’s a lot tougher. We threw back about 10 in the 15”-17.95” range in the first hour and a half. But the wind shifted from North to South and everything stopped. We were still able to catch fish but it went from one every 10 minutes to one every 45 minutes. Capt moved us several times and was working the phone to get reports but nobody was catching anything. Capt was also a little bit hamstring by the fact that we had to get one of our party on a flight so we hard a very hard stop - which meant being back at the Marina early and ready to hit the road. I could tell Capt would have pulled up and ran a distance later in the trip to try and get us on fish but our schedule wouldn’t allow it.

Anyone can go out and catch fish when the bite is on. But the pros can find fish when most people can’t. And the best can find a fish or two no matter what. But what the difference between a good guide and a great guide is, is what they are willing to do to find their clients fish when the bite is difficult. Capt Clinton went that extra mile and would have gone farther had our schedule allowed. There were other factors that made it tough as well - the three of us had not been fishing in quite a while so we weren’t sharp and missed several as the bite became really soft after the wind changed. And, for some odd reason, nobody had live shrimp that morning for whatever reason. Capt had a couple dozen left from the day before, but we were forced to use frozen shrimp once the live shrimp we exhausted and that happened shortly after the wind shifted had already changed things up.

Never the less, we caught about 18 reds, a handful of hardheaded, and a couple croaker to boot. Only one keeper though. But Capt kept us entertained, trying new spots, and we even went after and hooked up with a couple large, pelagic types that we released.

On what would be considered by most a really tough day fishing with really tough circumstances, Capt Clinton got us on fish, and kept us entertained. We had a great time and will not hesitate to call Capt Clinton when the next opportunity for us to go fishing arises.

Captain Clint stayed in touch with us up until the trip, answering our questions and asking us about our experience level and hopes so that he could tailor the trip to our wants. He met us at the dock with a smile and the smiles never stopped all day! Had us on fish fast (my wife caught an 23” red on the very first cast of the day!) and kept us moving to stay on them. He also took the time to explain the behavior of the fish in his area and answering our questions. I had hurt my hand the day before when our car was totaled by a speeding truck as we went through an intersection. I wasn’t gonna let it stop me, but Captain Clint kept an eye on me and made sure I took a break and iced my hand when I was being too hardheaded to admit I was in pain. My wife’s first guided trip and she’s already planning on the next time we can come fish with Captain Clint! Absolutely recommend him! I’ll be back healed up and back soon!

Clinton was great to spend a day with and even with some choppy water he put us on fish. He definitely made sure he went out his way to cater to what we wanted out of the trip. We asked about gators so he took us that way out to make sure we saw some gators! And on the way back did the same and got us a chance to see one super close! My wife doesn’t fish much other than when I take her on these trips with me and he made sure he made her feel comfortable on the boat and did an awesome job making sure she caught her share of fish…(pretty sure she caught more than me) if your looking for a great Louisiana experience and someone with years of experience on that water look no further. We booked a charter with Captain Clinton for a corporate group off-site trip and the five of us caught fish. Our group ranged from avid fisherman to someone’s very first time fishing. We all caught fish and had a great time. Captain Clinton put us on fish despite less than ideal weather conditions. We had 20 mph sustained winds and choppy water but his 25’ center console was very stable and comfortable. Despite low expectations given the weather, we still ended up with 2 slot redfish, 5 black drum, 5 speckled trout, 5 channel catfish, and a sheepshead.  Brought 12 lbs of fillets to GW Fins for dinner that evening and even the restaurant was surprised to see we brought fish in that day given how windy it was.  Highly recommend Captain Clinton.
