Caught nothing. Spent $900 to get driven around on boat for couple hours. Captains were nice. I just felt like they could have done something to make it so we don’t feel RIPPED OFF because having pissed $900 into thin air can really ruin a trip.

I was more than dissatisfied with the condition of the boat.  There were no cushioned seats with backs to sit down.  The only seating provisions were 4 bean bag chairs squished next to each other.  The 2 black ones were small and EXTREMELY uncomfortable.  The ladder on the boat if you wanted to go up and sit in a make shift chair (cushions leaned up against a railing) was missing 2 of the 3 step rungs.  The only seating area (potential bed?) in the cabin was filled with junk, so you couldn’t relax there.  There was no bottom step to enter the cabin, it was very dangerous.  The boat is not equipped with enough grab rails for safety.  I wonder if the coast guard inspects Hawaii charter boats or if this particular boat slipped through the cracks. 

Fishing:  We did catch one skippy (small tuna) at a bowie on the way out.  The captain never asked us what we wanted to fish for, so instead of staying in the area where we actually caught fish.  We left and went out into very snotty rough seas further out with 25 mile winds.  There is an old saying “never leave fish to find fish”.  I guess they never heard that saying.

After catching the tuna, the mate announced that this was the first fish they’d caught in 40 hours!  So they went out 5 days without a fish.  UGH.  After trolling around for hours in snotty seas on horrible bean bags, the mate never tried to change the lures or spread or try anything different.

I felt completely ripped off and it was the worst charter of my life.  There was no protection from the wave splashing, we all were completely soaked.

I’ve been on several deep sea fishing trips but this was the first time we trolled almost the entire time.  We didn’t get any bites so we just ended sitting in the sun for the entire time.  It didn’t help that it was really windy and half the party got sea sick as the 30 ft boat didn’t handle the waves well.  Overall it was a disappointing experience.
