We know that most of us want to catch the huge Mahi Mahi or a Marlin but sometimes they are simply not there and we only wish you would have accepted coming down for the snappers, barracuda and jacks, it’s also fun.

I’m sorry we didn’t meet your expectations.
We were not saving diesel, and worked the area where we thought it could be more productive during that time of the day.
We did communicate with you days before the trip and suggested to change it for the morning, because of the heat wave; we told you that it has been so hot that by the afternoon, it gets really hard to catch anything. Fish go down in the water column, are harder to find, and they seem not eager to eat.
At the end, we only suggest what we think it would be best, but you are the boss and decided to keep the tour for the hot hours (2pm to 6pm)
Getting that Mahi Mahi that you took for dinner took a lot of work and dedication.

Today in the morning trip, same boat, same crew, same area, we caught 3 Mahi Mahi and a sailfish.

But that is fishing 🎣, we can only work hard and give our best, the results are never guaranteed.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I own and operate the “Grand Slam”, the “Why Not?” And the “Big Time” for deep sea/in shore fishing charters in Cozumel and the Yucatan Channel.
Each boat has it’s own crew; and we’ve worked together for several years now.
Victor, Augusto and Miguel on the Grand Slam have already more than 10 years working together and are one of the most renowned crews in Cozumel.

Even thou we do not speak english to perfection, we communicate with our clients everyday and learn everyday.

On Sunday we had the wind blowing hard from the east, so going out of the protection of the island would have made fishing (bottom/reef fishing) extremely hard.
Nevertheless, the guys made their best effort in getting fish on the hooks and serve you on board to make the best out of the day.

There was good fishing, unfortunately we can not choose which kind of fish will bite on the reef.
