I took my three teenage boys on their first offshore fishing trip. Captain Mathew and First Mate Trevor were awesome!  They knew just where the fish were. Captain Mathew gave us the option to stop and catch live bait fish on the way out.  My boys got a kick out of catching multiple mackerel on the same rig at the same time. The Captain, Matt and deck hand Trevor were so nice, friendly, talkative and they worked so hard to get us on a fish. There were 25-30 other boats out there all day, we saw a few hook up but we didn’t, we marked a couple but no luck. Matt was in contact with other boats and decided to move us in the afternoon for the last 3 hours and within 20 minutes we had marked a couple and then whilst putting a bait out it was hit. We went out to sea this past weekend with Captain Cooney and his first mate, and we had a great time! We caught 45 fish, and were able to bring 30 of the hake and whiting home as fillets. Both the captain and his first mate were very good with my young nephew, answering his questions and showing him the fish and lobsters up close. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone curious about lobster fishing and who also wants to get in some solid fishing time.

We had a great time fishing on the FV Meredith Jean with Capt. Matt and First Mate Trevor. We caught lots of fish - mostly whiting, haddock and a couple of cod (couldn’t keep the cod.) The crew were very helpful getting our rods set up, helping with the fish and filleting them so we could take our catch home. We were celebrating my son’s 30th birthday and we had a blast! I would recommend the Meredith Jean and will hopefully be back out with them soon!
