Booked Alpha Royale for 2 november days, aiming to first catch several species and after that to go for a sailfish or marlin. Captain Jawidh is very professional in angling and deep sea fishing and his crew is both polite and hard working. The boat has been designed for this purpose and it makes things a lot easier. On the second day we had several visuals on sailfish and also managed to make our dreams come true by catching a +150 kg black marlin! Even without catching it we would have been satisfied but now we are more than that!  The only change I suggest is having several popping rods.

Encore. The word is often used when you like something so much you want a repeat. A second booking within 48 hours is testimony in itself. The same crew, boat and eagerness to please. I booked and told Lahteef I’d like to catch fish. His crew came prepared for trolling, jigging, popping and as a backup plan..got bait for bottom fishing. They made me try everything and ofcourse we caught fish. To the readers of this review please note that this isn’t the season for fishing but the crew doubled and tripled their efforts to make sure I caught fish. You want to fish in Maldives book with Alpha Royale!!

This was my first time to Maldives, and I went for a long weekend excursion with my wife, who does not fish. So, I decided to book a half day on Alpha Royale for just my wife and I in order to test out the fishing for a possible later multi-day fishing trip to Maldives. I also had some new travel rods and reels that I wanted to put to the test. Though I was hoping to get lucky popping for GT, I realized that a single, half day trip is a very limited time and so I did not expect too much. However, despite not finding any GT, Capt. Latheef put me over some fun reef fishing for the last hour, and I caught a couple of nice grouper, as well as had a fun fight with “the one that got away” . I found the experience a lot of fun, a very informative introduction to the area, and will have no hesitation booking Alpha Royale and Capt Latheef on another visit. The crew were all friendly, and it was a great morning out on the ocean.

Looking forward to my next trip with a bit more time.
