I booked a 6 day fishing expedition with Latheef (the owner) of Alpha Royale. As somebody who both enjoys and works in the fishing industry I’ve never caught a Giant Trevally and I sought out to fix that.

At $500 per day you can’t do any better, considering Alpha Royale is a 50ft boat with 4 crew members and an excellent guide.

We were picked up at Male International Airport by Latheef who was also nice enough to handle our domestic plane transfer to Maamigili (an island about 70mi to the south of Male).

The following 6 days (4 full and 2 half) we caught hundreds of fish, got our target species (GT), slept at 3 different guesthouses and even got a world record of a local species of grouper!

Couldn’t recommend Alpha Royale more. Be sure to book the fishing / lodging option as you can’t possibly experience all the Maldives have to offer in just a day trip.

Excellent. Starting my review with a single word that sums up my experience. Decent boat, great crew, grand experience and super value for money. The crew are eager to help you catch fish. They make good decisions about fishing spots and techniques. They are keen to teach you as well. You want to try fishing in the Maldives charter this boat. Latheef is responsive, prompt and delivers what he says.

What a fun day!!! My partner and I looked forward to it for so long and it certainly didn’t disappoint!
The crew were great, service really good, delicious lunch, views from the boat were stunning, the water smooth & cruisey and the fish were on the bite.

Crew are all very friendly and hardworking to make sure that you catch the fish you want. Highly recommended whether you want to catch small or big fish. Will definitively book this charter again when I come back!
