A marine mechanic by trade, the captain needed to get out of the shop. That's when he started Good Times Key West. Every day now he enjoys sharing the amazing activities and scenery that the Florida Keys backcountry has to offer. Fishing, snorkeling, sandbars, dolphin viewing, and much more.
Techniques
Set tunes, set anchor, set chum. Light tackle rods off the stern for snapper, Big poles up on top rocket launchers with live baits. catch some table fare, and scream some drag. Or pull up the beach and let the wife and kids play, while you walk the beach sight casting to fish in the shallows. Happy family + happy fisherman = Good Times Key West. Other activities include snorkeling, dolphin watching, sunset trips, and my personal favorite remote island/ sandbar sessions.

With exception of a few days, the wind has been blowing 20mph+ everyday for the last two months. Luckily our 24โ€™ Sailfish is flexible enough to fish not only open water, but also allows us to hide from the winds in the calm, scenic backcountry waters. The bite has been on fire with a verity of snappers, jacks, and no shortage of sharks. We like to call these trips โ€œdinner and a showโ€. Every get plenty to eat, and our marnia does a great job of โ€œcook your catchโ€. One last great thing about this fishery on a wi dy day, is that we have a no sea-sickness guarantee. Now, stop scrolling and lets start casting!

This month was a real mixed bag on our 24โ€™ trolling, bottom fishing, reefs, backcountry, and lobster territory. Bottom fishing in the shallow/ calm backcountry has produced some high quality mangrove, lane, and mutton snappers in large numbers. Some trips catching their allowed limits. No shortage of big 100lb + lemon sharks that youโ€™ll need to race for your dinner. Nicer weather days we have fished on the patch reefs just south of Key West. Red grouper, yellowtail snapper, and a verity of types of mackerel. Even did a catch n cook woth spadefish (a first for me). If you have lobster on your mind, well so do we! Many of our shallow water honey holes have been picked clean this late in the season. 6hr + lobster trips gave us enough time to run 20+ miles to areas with less pressure and they are still housing some quality bugs. Lets go make some memories!

The bite has been great offshore of Key West. Wahoo have been caught on almost all recent trips. Mahi are a plenty with a few of our trips catching our boat limit this week. We did have one day last week without much happening offshore, so we trolled the reef and caught a verity of mackerel including a โ€œsmoker kingโ€. Our 35โ€™ is perfect for trolling with its impressive outriggers, downriggers, and electric teasers. Dont forget we are one of the few Key West charter boats that has ice cold AC. Lets go get em!!!

Offshore conditions have been a little rough, but for those who muscle thru the waves have been rewarded. Lots of great sized mahi, 20lb tunas, and tons of bog bonitas. Our 35โ€™ Carolina Classic is designed for these conditions. She keeps us stable, dry, and even has the added comfort of air conditioning.
