The giant bluefinโ€™s are just off our beachs, so we had a short ride out to the fishing grounds! We arrived around 7:30am to a fleet of fishing boats. We got our spread set up for tunas. We were trolling 10 lines by 8am. Looking for birds,bait,and big fish marks on fish finder. Also keeping a sharp eye on all other boats as we donโ€™t want to get tangled with others ! Around 1/2hr later a pop, then screaming drang!! Fish on I yelled! Every one start clearing lines, as one guy grabbed fishing rod and got in the fighting chair! The long battle has just begun. At the beginning the tuna had taking 3/4 of the line off the reel. Erick was putting all he had on the rod to get the fish turning towards the boat! Next thing you know two boat our about to cut behind us! I let them know on the radio we were streched out, and they turned away from us, thankfully! I had to back down some to get line back and get him closer to the boat. We did this for about a good hr and had him just behind the boat ! We got ready to put a gaff in the fish. The fish wasnโ€™t haven that and takes off again! Erick pulled him back up to boat again! We can see him,he is big!! Line broke!! We were all heart broken!! He lives another day!!

Went out to one of our spots and got anchored. Anchoring is a bit trickier for these fish,as they live tight in the structure. If your off just a bit, usually dont get bit! So sometimes it takes a few attempts! These fish are a challenge to get! They are also delicious! We fish for them all winter through the spring,until they close usually at the beginning of May!

Headed out to the Gulf Stream,a bit choppy water. 80 miles later we set the spread out in seach for pelagic. About an hr into the prowl we came tight on a double hook up. We new they were big fish,so we scrambled to get all lines in and out of the way. Screaming drag off both reels. Finally get everything clear and one line breaks..uhh ok lets get this other! About an hr fight for Kerry and he had got the tuna to the nack of the boat, now we just need him in the boat! A few minutes later we got the gaff in the big eye Tuna!!
