This was the first time out on the open water for my wife and kids. We were scheduled for a full day of fishing, but I had to ask Hopper to cut it short around 10 am because the wife and all 3 kids were seasick. I wasnt feeling my best, but I was down to rough it out to catch some fish. The others were only seeing the side of the boat so we cut it short.

Jay grabbed a few baitfish right after we got out and then we began trolling. After a while we hooked into a decent wahoo which I let my son pull in. Right before we went back to shore, we brought in another one that seemed a little bigger. I pulled that one in and we tied Jay’s record of 2 wahoo in a day. Sorry we couldnt make it 3.

The boat was great and Hopper trolled us up and down the coast line searching for fish. Jay was all over the place baiting lines and keeping everything operational. He did an awesome job and I wish that I had some more cash on me to tip him more.

My wife, not so much. We booked a full day trip. We met Capt. Hopper and Jay at 0630 and caught some baitfish. By 8am we had a 100lb marlin in the boat and I thought my arm was going to fall off. That was just the beginning though. From there we were into skipjack tuna, then ahi, then mahi-mahi, and more skipjack. The 85lb ahi just about did me in. Gotta admit, I was rooting for the fish for a while just to give my arm a break, but we got him in the boat. Came back flying 4 flags and with 15 fish. We brought food and drinks but I never had time to eat, the fishing was just crazy.

Capt. Hopper absolutely fulfilled our wish for ono fish as we where not as interested in trophies but fish 🐠 to share with our families and friends 😋. We loaded up on Mahi Mahi, Chibi & Aku.  Jay, his deck hand, was the best we’ve ever had in Hawaii…helpful, hard working and so productive!  Those two were the reason we caught choke fish!  We’ll definitely charter again whenever we return to Oahu!
