I really enjoy watching junior anglers, like your son, pulling in fish.

Our specialty, and mission, is the most authentic light tackle experience possible.  We seek to offer our clients opportunities that maximize the “quality” of every fish and offer the most angler participation, and reward, possible. We think this objective is clear in our detailed listing and we are always available to discuss details of our service before any charter.  However, occasionally we are selected for our value pricing compared to more expensive charter operators that accommodate larger groups, and our service niche may not be thoroughly vetted.

Making the transition from fresh water fishing to the marine environment can also be challenging.  But with a little enthusiasm, and some casting practice, enticing, hooking and playing saltwater fish can bring great satisfaction.  That is why our vessel is designed with the casting angler in mind.  She is clean of obstruction, incredibly stable for her size, swift and stealthy. She is among the finest in her class and we feel she always deserves 5 stars regardless of the fishes appetites.

Despite my effort to provide insight and instruction to improve all my anglers’ catches and enjoyment, occasionally participants are just not that enthused by the experience. Some teenagers can’t wait to get out on the water and sling lures at fish. But some just don’t want to get up at 6:00,  but come along for the ride to please a parent.  If you are reading this review to decide if our service is for you, and you are just looking for a “casual” adventure expecting the crew to do the fishing for you, this may not be the boat for you.

However, despite the negative review of our vessel, we stand by her configuration as a true tournament grade light tackle rig. She is designed for maximum angler participation with an absolutely clutter-free deck for casting and fish-fighting maneuverability. She is swift, stable and stealthy and has had many 5-star reviews. But if you seek a larger vessel with more amenities, we understand completely and advise you to explore the many fine charter boats here at Fishing Booker.

I had a bad feeling about this one, but I believe it is important to read reviews, good and bad, when deciding on a charter operator. Originally scheduled for two people, the gift giver of this trip added two more anglers, that had never been fishing before, the day before the trip.  That’s ok, everyone caught and took home some fish.  So, what was the problem? Short answer: a bad match. They should have been on a different boat. I knew I was in trouble when the primary client showed up with his dirty work boots and cigarettes and told me my reels were too small and my hooks were too big and later wanted me to keep fish short of minimum legal lengths.  I had urged the customers to review my listing thoroughly, and my website to be sure the type of excursion I offer was fitting.  Obviously, it was not. However, the very next day I received my usual 5 -star rating from a client that had vetted my service carefully and had a great trip. I am fine with anglers taking home a couple of fish, but mainly my fishing trips are intended for fun, not food.  This customer missed that completely and I am sorry as it was a disappointing trip for both of us. The lesson is, selecting a charter should not be based on prices alone and both anglers and captains should choose wisely.
