Fall Fishing Is Back in Fort Lauderdale
Fall Fishing Is Back in Fort Lauderdale
Oct 20, 2023 Fort Lauderdale
Fall Fishing Is Back, Baby! While we might not get what the rest of the country calls Fall, we do get our own version of a change of seasons. Fall fishing off Fort Lauderdale is absolutely phenomenal! The Mahi Mahi are biting and weโ€™re seeing sailfish almost every day! A few other amazing species are also biting right now. Check out a bit of what weโ€™ve been catching below! Every year in Fall, we experience a huge migration of baitfish along our coast including ballyhoo and mullet. These large schools of baitfish bring along a range of predators looking for an easy meal. Triple Dolphin in Shallow Water Dolphin are going crazy right in shallow waters. We are able to sight fish in about 35-50 feet of water where you can actually see to the bottom and spot the fish. We usually need to go to water thatโ€™s **hidden content** feet deep to see this kind of fishing charter action. Donโ€™t miss your chance for this unique opportunity. More Mahi in Shallow Waters Like we said, big Mahi are in closer than any other time of year! This trip had 4 mahi on at one time and the customers managed to land all four of them. The catch included an absolute unit of a Bull mahi. Over 100lb of Mahi in the cooler! This trip was an emotional rollercoaster but when everything seemed lost we came through with an amazingly Good Hit. Limiting Out On Kingfish This group of customers were after kingfish and Captain JT was able to help them out. Our fishing charters are flexible and can be customized to suit a customerโ€™s needs. If you want to catch fish or you want to catch a specific fish, Good Hit Sport Fishing is here to provide our fishing charter customers the experience they are looking for.

July and Agust
July and Agust
Aug 3, 2023 Fort Lauderdale
This year has undoubtedly been a different one, we are seeing fish patterns that are new to us at Good Hit! Let me Start with the bottom fishing: this July and even into the beginning of August, we are seeing the best bottom bite on the east coast. We have been catching Mutton Snapper, Greater Amber Jacks, and Grouper, and When the current has cooperated, we are seeing mutton snappers that are double the size of our normal Fort Lauderdale Snapper. To Target, these fish, we prefer to anchor the boat. In certain conditions, we will hold the boat on shipwrecks, and at other times we can drift. The standard setup is two lines on the bottom; the preferred rig is a 30-50lb rod with a 60lb fluorocarbon leader. We at Good Hit, prefer circle hooks for most fishing styles, especially for bottom fishing. Letโ€™s talk about the other style that has also been very successful this summer, and thatโ€™s trolling. We do not normally troll at Good Hit Sportfishing, but it has been producing big fish week after week. We have been trolling Bonita strips with secret-colored sea witches. I would tell you the color combos, but I would be letting out the secrets โ€“ I guess you have to find out for yourself. The trolling bite is best around the full moon; my rule of thumb is a week before the full and a week after the full (thatโ€™s when I saw the best results for trolling.) The fish we target are Wahoo. These fish are great to eat, fun to catch, and the second fastest in the ocean. It can be a love-hate relationship sometimes with wahoo. When these fish bite, they bite, and when they are not biting, you can not buy a bite. Buyers beware of targeting the elusive striped wahoo fish. We also get lots of bycatch targeting wahoo, Kingfish, bonitos, selfish, and tunas. So with these tactics, itโ€™s still a possibility to catch other species. Story of the Month Goes out to Captain Chad on Good Hit 2.0, where he targeted a fish that hasnโ€™t Been caught in quite some time. So Chad made a special rig in search of the Warsaw Grouper. A Deep water grouper that hasnโ€™t been seen in the area in years. The rig that chad Made was a 100lb rig with a large circle hook; the bait of choice was a few belly strips of Bonita, which turned out to be productive. The fight lasted for 25 mins in 400โ€™ of water on a local shipwreck. We fish around the structure near the bottom as these groupers love structure and big baits. When Captain Chad Hooked up to this Monster, the battle was on and our angler did his best to reel it up, and when it finally surfaced, the entire boat was in shock. Way to go, Captain Chad and Crew!!!

JUNE REPORT
JUNE REPORT
Jun 22, 2023 Fort Lauderdale
June fishing report- June is here, and kids are starting to get out of school. The weather begins to heat up, but so does the fishing. In June, we still see blackfin tunas from spring; the kingfish have shown up consistently on the troll. Even though itโ€™s late in the season, we still see sailfish coming through. We have good luck on the shipwrecks for snapper, sharks, and grouper. In summer, we catch all different kinds of sharks- sandbar sharks, bull sharks, hammerhead sharks, and tiger sharks. The Mahi fishing is already happening offshore on our 3/4 and full-day charters, targeting these fish. Yet the reef continues to provide good action on the Dailey. June 8th - Captain Adam on Good Hit 3.0 -blackfin tuna In one instance, Captain Adam hooked the same shark on two different rods. I have been fishing for 20 years and have never seen the same shark eat two big baits. What a crazy experience; we also have pictures to prove it. This was a monster Tiger shark caught by Captain Chad on June 8th- Good Hit 2.0 [IMG_4037.jpeg] Amberjacks are still biting on the shipwrecks in June; we have been targeting them with live bait on more oversized rods to keep them out of the shipwrecks. The amberjack will run into the shipwreck and hide, if you give them enough line. They will find the shipwreck and pop the line in an instant. Here is a picture of Captain Adam with a Healthily Golden Amber Jack. [0EDA0EB**hidden content**C1E-B70BAEFB7E6E.jpeg] This young angler got their butt kicked by this fish, pound for pound, one of the better fighting fish. Around the full moons, we usually catch wahoos, and they are a challenging fish to target because you have to be moving kinda quickly to get the bite. Some select customers have this wahoo bug, and would be willing to risk it all to try to catch one of these fish. While wahoo fishing, we troll planner boards at 7-10 MPH, which is much faster than our average trolling speed. I like to call this style wahoo or bust- you have to be patient, but like this, the angler was greatly rewarded. Not to mention, a delicious fish to eat and can be cooked any way- my personal favorite is seared. Caught by captain Chad on June 14th Sunday, June 18th, we had some great fishing- Captain Chad on GH 2.0 caught a Giant Kingfish trolling planner boards, using a sea witch and Bointa strip. I canโ€™t tell you what colors, but they sure are working. What a great way to spend Father's Day; it was like the all-stars aligned because the fishing was great on a particular day. Lots of father-son duos on this day on the water. That same day Captain Adam, caught and released an 87โ€ late season Sailfish. It was utterly unexpected, and put up a wild fight. The angler that reeled in this sailfish was nine years old, and was a fantastic angler. Both Captain Adam and the young angler had to work together to catch this fish properly. A celebration was in order after this catch; what a Fatherโ€™s Day to remember. On Monday, June 19th, Captain Chad on Good Hit 2.0 had another fantastic morning. Catching a sailfish, three kingfish, two black, 3 in tunas, and 6 Bonita. Quite the catch if you ask me, it wasnโ€™t Father's Day, but it was a Fatherโ€™s Day gift.
