Captain Jim and his first mate were awesome. Laid back style with steady action.  Captain Jim was great with my young boys, allowing them to select their own lures and help attach them and throw them in the water. He found us skipjack tuna, short billed spearfish, and striped Marlin. We were 75% catch rate on the day, only missing one hit! 10 out of 10 would recommend Konadice Sportfishing! Can’t wait to get our mounted Marlin back home in Michigan! Thanks for a great Trip Captain Jim!

Captain Jim worked hard to get to the fish. He found life with birds and dolphins chasing flying fish. We hooked onto a small skipjack tuna early but could land it. Then the next hit was a big blue marlin but the hook didn’t set. We had about four other hits.
Then finally landed a big skipjack tuna, which was a good fight for its size. We eventually had it filleted and shared with the Boat.
On the way back to the docks Jim kept his optimism about ‘you never know, we could get a hit on the way in’. Sure enough just as his deck hand (Kawelo) was reeling in the lure we hooked onto a small blue marlin that my son was able to reel in.  We referred to it as the bottom of the 9th scenario. We were literally half a mile from shore when we hooked onto the marlin
We took pictures and video of it, and unhooked to let it go. Jim did tell us that if we catch a marlin then we’ll have to let them go. But we’ll keep everything else.
I was a little confused by this because I’ve seen other boats keep their marlins. (It was something to the effect that the marlins don’t sell well and it’s too much trouble?)
I was just glad both my sons were able to reel in something. The blue marlin was a beautiful catch nonetheless. A catch of a lifetime for sure.

It was a great day! We had originally booked a Monday with them, but the weather was crap. About 30 minutes into it, Jimmy asked us what we had going on the rest of our time here and offered for us to move our trip to a day with better weather.  Before we headed back though, he did a little trolling outside the marina to see if he could get us some dinner at no additional cost.

We ended up heading out again on Thursday and told him that we wanted to go after some monsters, so he headed down south. We had a few hits that ended up getting off but was a great day offshore looking for the big boys. I’d definitely recommend going out with Jimmy and James if you make it to Kona!

The captain and crew were great, but we didn’t get a single bite. Maybe it was an off morning, but it was still disappointing to pay for a fishing experience and not catch a single fish.
