Any day on the water is an amazing day! Jimmy, a.k.a. Captain Kirk made the trip!  We didn’t catch many fish, but we caught some! And I caught the teeniest, tiniest, tuna, I’ve ever seen in my life. My husband was lucky enough to reel in a pretty big barracuda. And another one he was reeling in got chomped in half by a shark😱 it was a hot sunny day… but in November, who can complain? Jimmy was an awesome captain, and kept us entertained with his stories and **hidden content**. If I caught nothing, I still would have been happy. That is a good day! If you are ever in Saint Maarten looking to go on a fishing trip, I would recommend using Captain James Kirk at Billy Bones fishing charters. I was able to book him through a website called FishingBooker. We will see you again next year Captain Kirk!

First mate Coco was a cool kid. Captain Miguel however made the trip very awkward and uncomfortable 1/2 way thru w an angry and defensive rant. He thought we were being sarcastic about the fish he caught when I responded with the word “really”, but we weren’t at all. We tried to explain this to him (and the owner after the trip) but did not receive any apologies from either one for the way we were treated for the rest of trip.  My wife and I spent the entire second half of the trip trying to appease Miguel and explain the misinterpretation of the intent of the word ‘really’ but instead we were left feeling very disappointed about the trip.  My wife and I have taken charters all over the Caribbean and Mexico and I am an avid fisherman who owns a charter service myself and we have never been treated in this manner.  It’s too bad because we really respect all fisherman and just wanted a fun day on the water.

I have fished many locations in the carribean and this ranks pretty low. Love the destination and the people. Most better fisheries, the guides know where the fish are at different times of the year. Granted it is still fishing, but from all accounts it seems more like pot luck for something to come in range here.
