What a day ! 2 sailfish and a large Marlin. it took several hours to fish this splendid marlin. I book a massage for tonight I am impatient for our second fishing day Tuesday.

The Blue Pearl II is was not as described on their web site. The boat was an ageing sportfisher that was barely able to make 10 knots speed. The exhaust of belching black diesel that trailed the boat could be tracked for miles. The fishing gear on board was ancient and poorly maintained. We broke off at least 3 sails due to poor line condition on the reels. This is inexcusable on a trip that demands the price tag of other highly equipped boats in the Quepos area. We had a lovely trip, mostly sight seeing though, as the only fish taken was a large needle fish sort of this. Fun little fight. We headed home less fishless after 4 hours, but then right in the harbour I caught onto a very large rooster fish. A really big one. I played it well in the crowded harbour and managed to keep it away from anchor lines of boats parked close by….It was a fantastic fight, the fish ran many times, but finally I played it right up to the boat side, where... Dear Mr. Joseph Gilland:

Thank you very much for your comments about your fishing day aboard our boat, and we are very sorry that you could not take the trophy photo with the big roosterfish that you hooked it and with which you were fighting.

Our Captain Luis informed us what happened and I would like to explain you the technique used by our crew and that it always worked, they have many years of experience. In the case of Roosterfish, which is a fish in conservation we take great care not to hurt it, the mesh is used for to place the fish’s head and with the other hand grasp the fish’s tail.

The escape of the fish was that the hook had not caught very well from the mouth of the fish and tells me the mate Erroll that you also saw it and you had the suspicion that it was going to escape despite all the efforts that were made, At that time the mate was wearing the non-slip glove, although on some other occasions they have released rooster fish without the gloves or the net.

Our Operations Manager, Martín Vásquez, informed me that the Blue Pearl II went fishing at approximately 7:30 am and returned at 1:00 pm, as the Captain wanted to offer you some time to allow him to have more possibilities, It means that we offered a service of more than 4 hours.

Captain Memo was OK, but first mate Andreas was not suitable for the job. Also, the electrical system in the cabin was disabled, so there was no light in the bathroom, which made flushing difficult at best. Andreas did not know how to fish, did not let the lines out far enough to catch anything, and lost the one catch made on the Captain’s line. The booking company also did not disclose that a 5% tax would be added if payment was made by credit card. I will not recommend this booking agency... More
