Fall cobia fishing

Cobia have been immigrating back through the Destin area. For the last few weeks we have been hooking up with a few larger sizes. Cobia is known for being one of the best eat fishing in salt water.

Red snapper season is booking quick

Looks like we are going to have another awesome red snapper season in the Destin area. The season is from the 2 week of June the the end of July. Season time frame is subject to changes by the state of Florida. Bookings are going quickly. Definitely don't wait too long to book before all of the dates are gone. We had a 6 hour trip with Captain James in early November. Not exactly known as a great fishing season. James came prepared and had us on fish immediately! Even if our first few got taken by sharks. With Amberjack and snapper out of season, we were very limited with what we could keep but still brought home some meat. We would definitely book with Apex again!

Captain James was especially great with our 7 year old son, making it fun for him and keeping him involved. Caught a few snapper for the table, a couple amberjack and few others that were released. Finished the day hooked on something very big, most likely a shark, that I couldn’t move. It got off before we got a look at it but it was fun for a few minutes of battle.

Told the captain that we wanted to catch Mahi and Snapper and he put us right on them. Since we had the 9 trip booked, he knew we’d also have some time to for other stuff and gave us the experience of amberjack fishing too! Overall, we had a great time and Captain James did a great job, especially with my fiancé being relatively inexperienced.

I had a blast your your family. Your son was able to ask the most questions ever on a single trip and at the same time catch some of the biggest red snapper of any of my younger anglers.
