Keith,you obviously didnt do your homework and booked the wrong trip.You and your crew boxed approximately 40 ribbonfish.Ribbons are excellent tablefare and most people say they taste similar but alittle better than spanish mackerel,which is also a longstanding favorite summer nearshore catch. You actually had one of the better catches of the 20 or so other nearshore boats that were fishing along side of us.Infact you told my deckhand you had caught all you needed and told us to head on in,about 45 minutes early.We were about two miles south of the inlet.Circling the school of fish is actually the proper technique to fish for many species including ribbons and one of the reasons you had such a great catch….As far as the gulf stream….there is no such thing as a halfday gulfstream trip out of any north carolina port.The gulfstream is approximately 35-40 miles off of our coast up here and with even the fastest offshore charterboat it takes an hour and a half but generally two hours ONE WAY,just to get there.You booked a four hour NEARSHORE trip. A gilfsyream trip out of our area runs $2000 plus the normal $400 tip for the mate.You booked a $575 halfday. You didnt do your homework.Having said that,you should have said something at the dock if you had a problem with your trip.You had ample opportunity to speak up.We laid your catch out for pictures ( I believe),I shook your hand(i believe ),and instead of speaking up you decided to bash my operation on here.Pretty poor reflection on you not me. Im glad the other 30-40 people who reviewed our business on fishbooker did their homework,I sincerly hope you do on your next vacation to our area.We have an excellent offshore fleet in our area ,just remember to ask questions before you book one of the other boats so you can book the proper trip.
