We had a great trip on board The Sea Grappler. Weather was not in our favor, wind and rain out of the east and seas a little rough but Captian Dan was persistent and found us a nice mess of Spanish and Blues. We even hooked Tom up with a 10-12# shark earning him the new nickname “Sharkie” from his wife😊 we are already talking about a fall trip in Sept-Oct with Beaufort Charters. The Captain and first mate were great and awesome to be around. The boat was nice and was set up well for fishing. However, the fishing was sub-par, but we did manage to catch a few fish but only one was a keeper. We booked a half a day trip expecting to catch a cooler full of fish.  We spent most of of the trip doing the same thing which only resulted in two fish; which again only one was a keeper. After hour three of not catching fish we could have changed up fishing techniques, lures or something, but we stuck with what the crew knew and what the boat was set up for. The only recommendation is to be ready for days where the fish aren’t biting what you have set up initially and be prepared to change and adapt.

Captain Dan took my sons and I offshore. The fish didn’t cooperate but that is fishing. Dan worked hard to keep us on fish. It was obvious that this crew loves fishing and studied the waters.
The mate Andrew worked very hard and was a pleasure to talk to. Very patient with us.
We experienced so many firsts. A tiger shark circled us for a short period and came within feet of the boat.
It was an amazing time.
We may not have had the most fish that day but it does not take away from the effort and work. The knowledge of the area was truly impressive.

We had a fun time fishing with Captain Dan.  Even without a mate, everything was good and we put fish n the box.  Captain Dan has many years of knowledge fishing the local waters.  I recommend Beaufort Charters and would go again with them.
