- I grew up fishing recreationally on the Gulf of Mexico. It was a dream to be able to work on the water so after a stint in the Navy, then college, I was able to move back to Destin and make that dream happen. I have had some great experiences working for and operating charter boats for others. A high point was receiving Captain of the Year in 2015 for the month long Destin Fishing Rodeo, here is the newspaper, The Destin Log. That same year, 2015, we were able to purchase a boat with plans to operate our own charter fishing business. My son, Captain Dylan Phillips who has been running the deck these last few years, has taken over the helm of Rewind this year!
