Overall just an average experience. The biggest surprise for us was the lack of enthusiasm and friendliness by the captain and first mate. By no means were they rude but upon our arrival they barely said a word. Not much changed for the entire trip. The boat is not very nice…again not horrible but certainly did not add to the experience. As a family of four looking for a cool fishing adventure, I think the crew and boat were a bit disappointing.

Little to no interaction or passion by the crew.  It was my first time out and I was hoping for a friendly crew. They seemed uninterested in us and only doing what was required.  We did catch some small tuna which was good but i think the experience could have been much better service wise.  The boat was old and showed it’s age and not well kept.  Felt like we were on the poor mans fishing charter.  Would not recommend.  We cannot figure out why this boat and crew were so highly rated.

We try to do a fishing trip every year and were excited for our outing with Carla Charters.  From the start, we did not find the captain or first mate to be particularly friendly.  In fact, they barely spoke to us at all not that we’d hear them above the extremely loud engine.  We caught zero fish which I’d be okay with (we know that’s how it is sometimes) but we could not even enjoy the boat because the seas were so uncharacteristically rough! I ended up with bruises on my back from being thrown against the ladder.  It was obvious we were not enjoying the experience yet never did they offer to take us into calmer waters where we could bottom fish (which would have been just fine with us!  I realized too late I should have asked this myself).  Due to the horrible conditions, and everyone becoming seasick, we cut the trip short.  When we got back to the docks they were only interested in getting their money and did not seem to not care that we were unhappy with the experience.  Back at the marina, a few people commented they rarely see such poor conditions and were surprised they would take a family out as far as we went and not suggest staying in shallower/calmer waters.  While I see other positive reviews our experience was very disappointing and we would not recommend.
