Had two days fishing with Rod and Dean amazing time first day was great fishing had plenty of good fish landed.
Day two new spots same amazing fishing also landed plenty of good fish and offered different options of fishing style to mixed it up which was awesome fun to experience hand line.
Food was amazing lunch had a really good selection of meat options for sandwiches and the aoil was my favourite.
Rob and Dean made a really excellent team for sorting tangles landing fish and releasing sharks. Also included everyone in conversation to make for everyone haveing a great day.Thanks Rob and Dean

Cant recommend this enough. The crew were fantastic. Great use of the time for fishing.
Caught a few quality fish and did battle with a big shark who wanted and got a free feed of my fish.
Excellent food and drink spread.

We truly went “fishing with the professionals” in every sense of that phrase. We have done salt wishing in Australia, Mexico and the United States on a number of occasions, and without hesitation give Dan and Jason the “highest marks.” Ten people were fishing throughout the day at various levels of experience, and at all times either Dan or Jason was “on the spot” when needed to provide fresh bait, assist (if necessary) in landing a fish, helping to unravel tangled lines and provide helpful advice and guidance. In addition, Dan went “over the top” when he dived overboard and swam out 50 meters to retrieve a nice sized fish that had become unhooked alongside the boat but was still floating on the surface. Also, Dan and Jason successfully resuscitated a large cod (50 kg or more) after it had been successfully fished by a young man celebrating his 30th birthday, following appropriate photographs, and returned it to the water to continue its life. Finally, Dan moved the boat throughout the trip doing his best to continue to find fish, rather than just sitting on a few spots. All in all, a wonderful day with two very competent and impressive young men. They are “keepers”!

What a fantastic way to spend a birthday, with my partner, a fantastic boat & crew and friendly group of fisher persons(7). We had a ball and heaps of fish caught throughout the day and a big bonus, heaps of migrating whales about 200 metres of the boat. The skip -Dan was very experienced & friendly and made sure he put the boat on spots, where the fish were biting. The deck hand - Dan- well what can I say, what a very enjoyable & friendly character he is (ask him about the four XXXX beer story from an earlier charter), extremely knowledgeable & experience. Both Dan & Dan were very professional and were always there to assist with baiting up, de-tangling lines - tips and of course, some friendly banter. The lunch was fantastic and plenty to go around -endless supply of water(free) and liquid gold at very reasonable cost.
The full day (6.30am to 3.30pm back at the jetty) is just right in time length and well worth the cost. We will definitely be back (and may ever bring a few family members) in the near future and hoping the two D’s are still there.Raymond Bentley recommends Cairns Reef FishingFished July 2017

A tough days fishing in 25kph winds. But we still had a great time. It was my wife’s first charter and she’s not a fisher person but she had fun and caught a Red Emperor and a Remora Shark. I caught 5 fish but none big enough to keep. The captain tried his best with probably 8-10 different locations tried but the fish just wouldn’t cooperate with only 4-5 keepers landed for the day. There were also sharks around which made it interesting. I would still recommend this trip however as it was a great days outing and an experience worth the money.

It was a good day out, waters a bit rough, actually caught fish to take home which was a bonus arranged pick up from holiday apartment due to not having a car assumed we would be dropped back off not impressed that we had to return via a taxi costing a further $54.

Hi Gary,Thanks for coming out with us and glad you enjoyed the day and caught some fish. Just to clarify the situation regarding the pick up service.We can provide a pick up service in the morning,if requested ,and normally charge $20 per person to help cover the costs. We don’t offer a return service in the afternoon as we are busy organising the boat for the next day, we are a small business and simply don’t have the resources.In your case we provided the service free of charge as a courtesy. We believed that we had advised you that we couldn’t give you a lift home ,but accepted that you hadn’t got that message so did say that we could do it. In the afternoon, just prior to running you home, I was advised that there were major disruptions to the traffic north of Cairns, due to a sporting event ,and that it would take me over 3 hours to get back to the marina and finish preparing the boat for the next days charter. I explained this too you, apologised,and asked if you would be ok the catch a taxi, which you said you were. Its regretful that a $54 cab ride home ,between 2 people,was a black mark on your day, you did get a free pick up,and free filleting of your fish, our decky’s normally do this in their own time and charge a small fee for it.
Thanks for coming out with us and for your feedback, we will ensure in future that the conditions of our pick up service are properly understood.

I was meant to go out on the tuesday but bad weather pushed us back for 2 days. When we finally got out there every time we dropped anchor we got baits. The crew was fantastic in assisting us with landing the fish and just looking after us. The spread of food was huge not that you had much time between catching fish to eat. All round great trip and I’m planning my next trip with these guys. Do yourself a favour and get out there qith cairns reef fishing.

We had a full day the captain got us out to the reef asap and within say 30 minutes we were catching fish. We moveed around the boat around a bit so we could catch more fish. The lunch they provide d was better that I expected.

Good captain and deck hand. We got fish in the boat in general. Overall it seemed like a good trip. I didnt actually bag any fish. Lost one in the rocks (my fault), lost another to a large shark that left only the head. Nice weather and decent sites. We had 12 on the boat so it caused some competition for fish with so many lines in the water. We also got tangled several times. These things happen. Overall Cairn’s reef is a good operator. The food for lunch was a surprise with many choices for the sandwich buffet. Good fruit end of day and some fresh croissant to start. A shark was caught, several trevally, some trout and a few others like snapper. A very large shark was nearly at surface (we fed him well). I would have went back again if i had the chance.

Great day. Crew was fabulous, food was lovely. Didn’t catch a fish but the crew put in such a great effort for me to catch one that i’ll be back again to have another go. The crew made the day and to catch a fish would’ve been a bonus. But Dapper Dan gave me a fish for trying and that was the icing on the cake for me. I’ll be back!! As i owe them 1 fish for trying. Great charter, great crew! Awesome scenery and lunch. Only thing that bugged me was the use of mono line on the fishing gear. Hook up rate wouldve been awesome if they were rigged with braid. Also very pricey but in the scheme of things is worth it. Crew were very friendly and knowledgeable, definitely recommend.

If there was a call by crew for ‘anglers to wind up’ when a big fish is on the line of another (on that side of the boat) it would be better as 3 big fish lost as they were in mixed lines at the surface! Coral reef fishing well understood by the crew. The boat is a 42 footer and can take 14 fishing, to me; best if max of 10 fishing per trip would be better!

Boat, equipment and crew were awesome. Did their best to provide best fishing opportunity. It would be good though to state that the transit time plus boat repositioning takes up about 4 hours…so actual fishing time is about 4 hours. This helps the angler to determine the cost effectiveness.

I went out twice with this company the first time we went out was with a captain named nick he was friendly snd helpful but the fishing was pretty dismal the decky Deno was awesome the second time we went out we were with captain Stuey/Stuart he had a great personality friendly and helpful and new all the great fishing spots we caught a boat load along with Deno the decky they made the day awesome thanks again guys will be back up soon for some more great fishing would recommend trying these guys if your planing any sort of fishing trip to Cairns.
