As the weather finally cools down, the nearshore bite will heat up! The Spanish and King Mackerel are showing up in good numbers on the nearshore reefs and wrecks. Make sure to look for the birds diving on the bait pods. The Mackerel will be close. The Red grouper bite has been consistent and we get a few keepers mixed in with plenty of shorts. Hog Fish will be a strong possibility this month, make sure to bring plenty of live shrimp. We have seen good numbers of Triggerfish come over the side with a few keepers. Make sure to book soon as these trips are popular and fill up fast.

We are catching a mixed bag of fish on the 4 and 5 hour trips. The Mangrove Snapper have been showing up in good numbers in 35 feet if water. There have been a few keeper Hog Fish mixed in with the Snapper. Our Gag grouper season was short and we were able to get a few keepers,but most were short of the slot limit. There were a few keeper Red Grouper that were caught in the same area as the Mangrove Snapper and Hog Fish. The Cobia were happy to make an appearance but were just short but put up a great fight for our customers and made lasting memories. The Bonita and Spanish Mackerel are showing up on the reefs and just off the beaches. Make sure to have plenty of live bait and you should have success with these fish.

We are definitely up and running after the storms! The Gag and Red Grouper bite has been on fire in December. The nearshore reefs in 35 foot of water are holding good numbers just in time for the Red Grouper season opens on Jan. 1st. There are good numbers of grunt for a table full of fresh fish for the family. We have seen some Grey Triggerfish come over the rails. Hog fish are always a nice treat when they show up. Make sure to have plenty of live or fresh frozen shrimp to bump the odds in your favor. If you have some frozen threadfin for chunk bait or chum, who knows what may show up. We have had good luck on our 4 hour trips with different species of fish. If you want to get out, bring a jacket and warm clothes for the early morning trips and you will be fine. Make sure to book soon as these trips go fast.

November nearshore fishing is hot right now. There is still plenty of bait to be found along the flats and around the ICW markers. The bonito and mackerel are thick along the hard bottom just off the beach up to 9 miles out. Just look for the birds and you are sure to find them. The bait of choice is either a spoon or something small with a lot of flash. The water temp is still a bit high near shore for the big kings, but they are there if you look. The bottom bite is fantastic and the red grouper and gag grouper are showing up in good numbers. The season is closed for both but the are a great catch. There are plenty of grunt,triggerfish,and mangrove snapper along the reef edges. No sign of red tide out at 8 miles off of Pinellas county out of Clearwater. Let's get out there and catch some fish. Nearshore fishing Has been great despite the fact that Mother Nature is not cooperating. The nearshore reef and wrecks have been holding decent numbers of Mangrove Snapper and the occasional Red and Gag Grouper along with Grunt and a few other species of fish. The Snook, Redfish and Trout bite has been good inshore. Look for these fish along the jetties and just off of the beaches. Make sure to have plenty of live shrimp and live bait. October is here and so are the schools of Mackeral just off of the beaches. The King fish should be close behind the schools of Mackeral so be sure to keep a flat line out while either anchored or drift fishing. Finding schools of Mackeral is as easy as looking for the birds. Once you find them, the fish should be nearby. Make sure to book your trip soon. Also, if you are out on the water, be sure to keep an eye out for floating debris from the storm. Tight lines and we will see you soon.

The nearshore bite has been fanastic in April. The nearshore reefs and wrecks have been producing big Mangrove Snapper, Red Grouper,Sea Bass, grey Triggerfishand plenty of Grunt. The Spanish and King Mackerel are definitely here and should be here for a few more weeks. We look for diving birds and bait pods for these fish and either slow troll or anchor and chum them in. There have been a few shark that have showde up in our chum along with a few cobia. The 4 and 6 hours have been producing good numbers of the above species. May should be just as good. The Tarpon will be showing up in the bridge passes and along the beaches abd should make an awesone memory should you be lucky enough to battle one of these impressive fish.
