Unfortunately we are in the midst of the summer blues. Heat advisory indexโ€™s almost daily and water temps are hovering around 90 degrees in the bay. There isnโ€™t a ton of quality fish to be found. The heat definitely has them lethargic. Historically this time of year is tough, but it seems this summer has been tougher than usual. Water quality issues, overfishing and the heat have made it difficult this summer. We are occasionally finding some good fish, but we are having to work for them. I try to be as transparent as possible when it comes to this fishery and my profession. Its going to be tough for the next few weeks, but if youโ€™re willing to tough it out, you may just find a gem in the midst of this summer haze. Tight Lines, Capt. Quinn

Spring has sprung!

We area finally out of what I believe to be the last cold snap. Water temps are in the 70โ€™s and it has the fish moving. While it may seem that every trip is a success, it really hasnโ€™t been that way. Just six days ago it was 39 degrees in the morning. We have had stable temps the last week and it has made the fishing a little more predictable. Afternoons seem to be the best lately, especially with a south wind. Hope this helps and look forward to getting you guys out there!

As we get into Spring, it seems the weather cant make up its mind. Hot, cold, windy, its been all over the place, which had made locating quality fish somewhat difficult. However, covering plenty of ground we have been able to locate a few quality fish. As we get further into March and temperatures start to stabilize we should see a more consistent bite.

We are now in the full swing of summer! The temperature can attest to it. While the fishing has been challenging, we are making the best of it. On my GPS fish finder I recorded surface level temperatures at 90.4 degrees this week. Thats hot, and basically bath water temps. With all that being said, we are still locating solid fish, it just takes a little more patience and covering a lot more water than usual. We have been hitting shaded docks, deeper creeks and river mouths and getting on them early to combat the heat. The fish are like us humans, by about 10am its pretty hot and they are looking for shade and cooler waters. The late afternoon bite and early mornings are where its at. 7-10am and about 3-7pm have been the best times for fishing. Hope to see you guys out there. Tight lines!! Capt. Quinn

The bite has been pretty good this past week as far as catching redfish goes. The only caveat, is that the majority have been either too big or too small. It is good seing a lot juvenile redfish active in the bay! As long as we donโ€™t get a ton of wind and rain, I see the bite staying pretty good for the next couple of weeks.
