Overall a fantastic fishing trip on the Mad Hatter. Seas were not cooperative for our early morning departure making it a rough ride for a few hours. Our group powered through it and Capt. did an excellent job compensating to keep us as steady as possible. Seas did calm somewhat for awhile and we managed to limit out for our group of 6 on Red Snapper. Caught a couple of nice Barracuda keepers, along with several other species that were not currently in season. I would highly recommend this boat and captain. Deckhand was also on point. Worked very hard keeping everyone’s lines going and was attentive to anyone’s questions. Go book with them when in Orange Beach!

We had a great full-day fishing trip with Captain Blake and mate Chris on the Mad Hatter.  Our goal we set for for Captain Blake was to limit out on red snapper and then troll for what we could find on the surface. Captain Blake delivered on both. The boat was immaculate and very comfortable. The cabin is spacious with air conditioning and plenty of room for a party of six. The tackle was in good shape and we had all of the bait we needed.
I have gone out on a lot of charters from New England to the Carolinas and the Gulf Coast. This boat and crew rated up with the best of them. I will definitely book the Mad Hatter for my next off-shore trip out of Orange Beach. I also recommend using Fishing Booker for a smooth, hassle-free way to book your trip.

Captain Blake and mate Houston were polite and easy to talk to but the boat is older and in need of repair. She was a slow old tug getting from spot to spot eating up precious fishing time. We did a full day trip and 2/3 was spent underway moving to another spot. We did catch our limit with red snapper (2 per person; 5 of us)  The last outfit we went out on was a fast modern vessel in top shape with plenty of aft room for fishing. The fishing area is somewhat crowded and catches the diesel fumes quite a bit. This didn’t help with members feeling nauseous.  We also caught a tagged snapper which come to find out is worth money and the captain acted like he was u aware of it yet the mate said they caught 3 last year. Again we caught a few fish but I feel like I paid full price for a scratch and dent product that was only half full when I opened the bag. Oh well, live and learn. Disappointing

We had a great time on the water. Captain Blake put us on the fish and we quickly limited out on snapper. We then trolled and caught several mackerel. The boat was comfortable and the kids enjoyed the air conditioned cabin to escape the heat. First mate was top notch and kept us baited up with no delays. Would definitely recommend
