We had been looking forward to a fishing trip on the bay for some time to just get on the water but to also create a memorable experience for my 6 year old granddaughter.

We read good reviews for this charter so we booked a morning half day trip.

The boat was comfortable, easy to access…on the docks right next to the Shanty Restaurant.  It had a toilet which came in handy for the little one.  The boat was clean, well maintained, and equipped.  They had life preservers for children under 12 which they must wear (it’s the law). And we were glad we didn’t need to buy one ahead of time.

Captain John and his son Johnny took us out into the harbor to get everyone acclimated, residual the youngster.  We caught a handful of finger sized fish…a few different species as we drifted.  We then attempted to travel to to Kiptoke for more serious fishing but the northeasterly breezes made for a serious chop that scared my granddaughter.  So the captain turned around and we returned to the calm waters of the harbor for the rest of the trip.  He was very accommodating and took his cues from us as to what we were comfortable with.  We saw a few dolphins too which was bonus.

I checked with my daughter after the trip for her review and she said that they all had a good time and liked that the captain and first mate were so helpful and understanding of how to make the trip a wonderful trip for the young one.  Thank you

They did an amazing job. Even after we were out for an hour we had to come back in and sit due to a storm. Instead of just canceling they waited it out and we got to finish our trip. They made sure we caught the fish we were after. They worked hard and even let one of our members cast with different baits. If I’m in the area again, I would definitely use them!! Very friendly, hard working, and extremely pleasant people to work with.

Jonny and John are a very professional and accommodating crew! They keep their equipment and boat in tip top shape. Meeting at the dock the crew were very polite and welcoming, we left the dock on time exactly and head to the fishing grounds. John and Jonny were quick to set up and put baits in the water. Bait was fresh and also live lined spot. Continued a constant chum line and worked the lines diligently to be sure bait was fresh at all times! Unfortunately, the targeted fish are not always there, but it was a great time for my brother and I fishing on the Salty Hooker! See you next time Jonny and John!

This was the best fishing trip I have ever been on!  Captain John and Johnny were amazing!  They were friendly, fun and did all they possibly could to make me and my two daughters have a wonderful time and catch lots of fish.  They were very knowledgeable about the area, about fishing and we loved learning more about them.  I loved it was a father and son outfit, they worked so well together!  I can’t say enough positive things about both of them as people and both of them as captains of a very well run charter.  I would recommend them to anyone and would absolutely use them again if in Cape Charles.

My family and I caught several species of fish today and it was a blast. Jon is a great captain that we hope the next time we are in Cape Charles, we can go out with him again.
