Captain
Taco Perez

Member since October 2014 Fort Lauderdale, United States
Background
Captain Taco Perez has been mastering the waters of South Florida since the mid 70’s. He fished for Jacks, Tarpon, and whatever else patrolled the canals and Intracoastal waterways. Taco’s first boat was a 25’ Open Fisherman, aboard which he explored the Ft. Lauderdale coast. Taco gained as much information as possible from local anglers, perfected his cast, and tried various techniques and fishing methods. Before he knew, people began asking him about fishing! Taco’s repertoire is not limited to the waters of South Florida. He has fished all over Mexico, Venezuela, St. Thomas, and Turk, as well as the Bahamas. He has successfully taken part in various fishing competitions, including the Bahamas Blue Marlin tournament. Now, Captain Taco has his own charter business and he is loving every minute of it.
Techniques
We do quite a bit of trolling and in the winter months we also like to kite fish along with some deep drops on some of the ship wrecks.

OCT FISHING OFF FORT LAUDERDALE WOW
OCT FISHING OFF FORT LAUDERDALE WOW
Oct 1, 2025 Fort Lauderdale
โ€ข Fort Lauderdale Deep Sea Fishing Report โ€“ October Wow, wow, wow โ€” what a month for fishing in Fort Lauderdale! The mahi mahi showed up a little late this year, but when they did, they came in thick and hungry. Weโ€™ve been catching beautiful gaffer-size mahi, ranging from 8 to 15 pounds โ€” an unexpected pleasure for this time of year. The sailfish are starting to show up strong too, mostly in 170 to 200 feet of water. Lately, weโ€™ve even been spotting them chasing ballyhoo in the shallows โ€” a great sign that sailfish season in Fort Lauderdale is just getting started. Even more exciting, we found mahi mahi feeding in under 100 feet of water! Casting live bait to them in the shallows has made for some incredible light-tackle action and unforgettable fishing days. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous โ€” calm seas, clear blue water, and air temperatures between 67ยฐ and 75ยฐF. No hurricanes for us this year, but it looks like the storms that passed through the Caribbean pushed plenty of fish our way. All in all, October was a fantastic month for deep sea fishing off Fort Lauderdale. Looking ahead, November should bring red-hot sailfishing and a good shot at wahoo as well. The water temps and conditions are lining up perfectly for an amazing winter bite. If youโ€™re ready to experience the action, come fish with us aboard Hooked Up, one of the top-rated Fort Lauderdale fishing charters. Whether youโ€™re after mahi mahi, sailfish, wahoo, or just a great day on the water, weโ€™ll make sure you have an unforgettable trip. Go To FISHING Booker AND Book your Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing trip today โ€” the fish are here and the bite is on!
