I have been fishing all my life since I was a very young kid and have been around water all my life. I was born on the west coast and have fished at various locations up and down the province in both Saltwater and Freshwater environments. Some of my favourite fishing spots in BC are within minutes of major cities, you don’t have to go far to find the fish. Moving to Ontario in 2015, I had never heard of the ability to fish for “pacific” salmon (chinook and coho) in the Great Lakes but it was a fantastic opportunity and a truly amazing fishery.
Techniques
The preferred method of catching fish for me is trolling, as it allows us to cover a lot of water. Fish are mobile and will follow the bait, so this lets us move and adjust as necessary.

Final Report of 2024 - Bay Of Quinte - D
Final Report of 2024 - Bay Of Quinte - D
Dec 29, 2024 Toronto
We arrived at Finkles Shore Park in Bath before 7am and got setup, with the water extremely low, we got the boat in and headed west to the reach to hunt for some Bay of Quinte Gold Bars. Unfortunately today all we could manage were a couple hit and runs between the Bat Cave and the Lighthouse. And for those of you planning on getting out in the next week, the Ferry Launch is not going to be useable because the ice extends well to the east of the ferry. We made another pass near the bat cave towards Prinyers making sure the gear was in the right range with the #smartTroll but no takers so we picked up and moved out to the gap to have some fun with the Lakers! And fun it was. We got setup infront of the plants headed west to ride the increasing swell and wind and it was less than 5 mins and we popped a nice one. Then Daniel had one that broke off. We quickly set back and the other side went off and Daniel redeemed himself with a nice one! Two more in quick succession and then a double to finish off our day pulling lines at 3pm to head back and try and dry out a bit from all the rain! Thanks to @jbs_fishingdepot and their customs that did the heavy lifting today! Had a great day now to put the boat away for a short slumber and get the gear ready for next Season! Thank you all to those that came out and fished with us this season! Booking for next season is up and available! Fishing Report - Sunday Afternoon July 2
Fishing Report - Sunday Afternoon July 2

Eugene and Dominik his wife, are new Legend X20 owners and wanted to see what was possible so they got in touch with me and picked a time cause they had some holidays planned and we booked the afternoon session. They were out in their boat during the morning, and would come on mine for the fishing. We knew the water had changed since the morning so we ripped out to 300fow right away and put the spoon rigger rod down first. I turned around and it literrally fired in less than 10 seconds. Dominik did a great job bringing it in.. It was a nice mid teens Chinook. We got it back in the water, and reset the line. We got 2 other in the water before the spoon rigger fired again, this time a nice rainbow on the slider. And it certainly wasnโ€™t as steady as the morning, but we kept picking away at it, bringing home 3 more chinooks and 2 cohos. Most gear was in the 40-65 feet deep with the deep meat rigger down 88. The issue out deep was the debris in the water, we were constantly having to check and clear lines as the crap on them was astounding. Branches leaves, sticks, everything. We fished out to 397 fow and turned around and came back in, picking away at them right till about 8pm when we weโ€™re in about 240 fow coming at the marina and we had 2 good hits on the 250ws and 200 ws. One with Flasher fly and one spoon. This afternoon we didnt take any fish on meat. Eugene and Dominik had a great time and are already planning their return and possibly some fall walleye in Bay of Quinte with me.

Vince and his dad Bob, met me at the launch at 5:00am and we were headed out to the drop by 5:01, with our first line going in the water by 5:09am, and boy let me tell you it didnโ€™t take long for it to start going crazy. I was about to put the 4th line in, and the Spoon Rigger down 55 fired with a small shaker on the slider. We were running a Hot Banana Mag, and a Bloody Nose Slider regular size. Got that line reset and got the 4th rod in, and the other rigger went off which was a 13โ€ @projectsalmon UV SIICK kingfisher with Glow Twinkie rig and meat heat fired and it pulled some line. This is what we are looking for for the @greatontariosalmonderby . We wanted a board fish and this felt like it, pulling more line and not moving. Vince kept on it for over 15 minutes and then the line went limp.. Reeling in, only to find the bait head was gone with the full length to the swivel above still there. Must have been a good head shake and sawed it offโ€ฆ Their teeth are getting hard.. So I reset this rod with a different but similar rig, and got to getting the rest of the rods out, but one fish after another chinook, coho on spoon rigger, diver rod with 8โ€ glow white split personality canโ€™t decide and meat heads, and the green twin of this kept taking hits as well.. I finally got the 300 ws in with a custom mixed veggie flasher and fly and no sooner did it take a massive hit and hurried the board, and it didnโ€™t come up for a very long timeโ€ฆ about 10 mins in it went limp, like really limp.. The whole 300 WS came off with the rig. We managed to circle around and pickup the board successfully. Yet another possible board fish. We got a surprise Brown Trout on a 200 WS on a spoon shortly there after followed by a number of Rainbows, and a Coho.., We got 4 species today and both Vince and Bob were smiling from ear to ear. We fished along the drop from 170-220 and turned around just west of the filtration and headed back to bluffers and when we got about 1.5 miles west of bluffers we turned out and kept picking away at fish till we turned around in 300fow.

Another Insane Evening on Lake Ontario!!
Another Insane Evening on Lake Ontario!!

Itโ€™s an understatement to say the fishing is insane right now! Justin and his son Javin are in from out of town for hockey games and had a break in their schedule and wanted to get out and do some fishing. Having fished deep sea in the Florida Keys, theyโ€™ve had some amazing experiences. Today would be one of them. We had to carefully watch the weather after the cells that came through yesterday but we got out at 330pm to a flat lake which made 35mph to the drop easy. We set up just east of the filtration in 100 fow and got two rods in before the first went off. Shaker on a spoon slider. Reset the line, and didnโ€™t get the 4th rod in before a diver with Meat back 233 fired, 4lb king, and in my view the best eating size salmon in the lake! The screen was just littered with fish and we finally got all 6 lines in the water after a few more shakers then a diver took a hard pull but on the first reel down, there was nothing there! There were a few more like this throughout the day.. The deep rigger at 133 took a hit and we got it to the boat@pulling in an 18.5lb mature king. Followed by a hit on the spoon rigger that looked like a whale had hit it. Unfortunately it managed to free itself before we got to have a look at it. As we turned around at the stacks because of the weather in the distance and headed back to bluffers the first diver fired out 199, with a white 8โ€ @projectsalmon.ca split personality canโ€™t decide and meat and then the other diver fired with the same green version. Got them both in and to say the guys did an awesome job of getting it done! They were twins at 16lb and 17lbs.. The weather was definitely catching up with us so we decided to head back to the marina with a full limit for the guys to take home! Thanks for coming out guys! At the end of the day, we were 10 fish on 16 hits working 130-200 fow east of the filtration to the twin stacks and back! #legendboats #legendboatsmemories #legendboatssudbury #legendboatsbarrie #mercurymarine #minnkotamotors #humminbird #garminmarine #projectsalmon #streamside #fishingontario #salmonfishing #lakeontariofishing #lakeontario #kingsalmon

Bluffers Evening - Smackdown!
Bluffers Evening - Smackdown!

Today Lucas and his niece met me at the marina and we departed around 4pm and headed out to the drop setting up in 100fow aiming for 160-180 fow. We managed to get all the gear in the water and on the line towards the spit. We ran a deep rigger at 122 with oki kingfisher Twinkie rig; spoon rigger at 88 with slider and divers with white and green 8โ€ @projectsalmon.ca split personality cant decide with meat heads. And on the long lines we ran one spoon on 200ws and one flasher fly on the 300ws. The Smart Troll system was showing a completely different picture than 4 days ago! It took some time before rods started moving, slow at first, two shakers, then the deep rigger fired, and went straight into the other rigger and got it off.. after we got the lines reset a diver takes a hit and pulls us out to 450 feet on the counter. Lucas got the fish to the boat and we quickly snapped a pic and got it back in the water. We weighed it a few minutes later at 23.5 lbs.. but back to the drop it went! From 6:30 pm until we pulled lines at 8pm we were between the filtration plant and the spit in 150-200 fow and we could not get all the rods back in the water! We had fish hit and get the rod set back, then another would fire! Diver, Rigger, Meat, Spoon! It was all working sometimes at the same time! Lucas and his niece worked the doubleheader perfectly slowing down for us to deal with the first one. At the end of the day it was 15 fish hitting the deck, on 20 bites from just east of the filtration plant to the spit in 150-200 fow. Oh I should say the screen has not looked this good in a while! The Greater Ontario Salmon Derby is gonna be awesome this year! We will have an entry for you! #legendboats #legendboatsmemories #legendboatssudbury #legendboatsbarrie #mercurynarine #projectsalmon #streamside #wekeepyoufishing #minnkotamotors #humminbird #garminmarine #fishingontario #salmonfishing #legendsportfishingguideservice #lakeontario
