The boat - larger than others I’ve been on for similar charters and with fishing options off both the bow and stern to help spread folks out and reduce tangles.

The captain - Captain Chris was great - 5 stars! Professional, friendly, competent, and super good about checking in with us about how we were feeling (it was a rougher day) and what we wanted to do (which fish we wanted to target, how much time we wanted to spend watching wildlife/scenery vs. fishing, etc.)

The crew - it seemed like we got a bit of a training day. Someone has to be the training group for a new crew member, but we were a bit disappointed since that’s not what we thought we were paying for. There were 3 crew on our boat to try to make up for lack of experience, which shows the charter cared I guess, but that also made the boat crowded with too many opinions flying around. We did catch fish and had a good, safe day out on the water, but the crew threw back two nice halibut we wanted and could have kept. We also should have asked to just get the fish whole at the end so we could filet them ourselves. Deckhand Bob did a great job on our halibut (and a great job at everything else too! 5 stars for deckhand Bob!), but our rockfish and cod were mutilated. Could I do better on a moving boat? No. But would I do better afterwards at the filet tables on the docks? Without a doubt. Again, I understand people have to practice sometime, but practice on your own fish before you cut holes in mine please.  I’m paying you money for a service - if you can’t do it well, just don’t do it.

The captain and crew on the first day were not very professional. They looked like they were hung over. The mate spent quite a bit of time in the rest room. The captain took us to locations that have been know to be fished out. He seemed to be more interested in site seeing than fishing.
The captain (Mike) and mate (Ben) on the second day were extremely professional. The captain took us to known locations where fish were abundant. We caught our limits that day. The mate was the best we have had since fishing at Seward for many years.
The cabin was small and not very comfortable (The Yanichka).  The other boat was in repair and may be a better option.
I would recommend ONLY if you fished with Mike the Captain/Owner.
