The redfish have been schooling up recently making the best time of year to target redfish while sight fishing. I have been seeing schools of up to 20+ fish cruising in inches of water making for a show. I have also seen and caught more 30+ inch redfish these past few months than I have going back years. The snook fishing bite early in the morning has been hot fishing small troughs stacked with fish. You might have to weed through some 24" fish to find the real big ones, but they still pull plenty hard. I've also been seeing some big tarpon cruising the shallows with their back out of the water feeding on mullet. This is one of my favorite times of year to fish because the weather is usually nice and all the species are active making it a great time of year to target a backcountry slam.

Cooler morning temperatures are turning the bite on. The past few weeks fishing has been great with 3 backcountry slams caught in a day the redfish, snook, and trout are eating. Snook season just opened up so this weekends purpose was to bring home fresh snook and that we did along with a lot of other bycatch. The redfish seemed to be everywhere with a quadruple hookup to end the day with only 3 people onboard made for a great end of the trip.

The offshore fishing has been productive this week! Anglers have been enjoying fantastic catches of mahi-mahi,sailfish, wahoo and tuna. The temperature changes in deeper waters have attracted schools of fish, making for exhilarating action. Many visitors reported successful trips with several mahi-mahi ranging from 5-15 pounds, Sailfish have also been making an appearance, providing an exciting challenge for those eager for a thrill. The reefs are teeming with vibrant species, including snapper, grouper, and mutton snapper. Anglers are consistently reeling in nice-sized muttons and mangrove snapper, averaging between 2 to 4 pounds. Summertime dolpin (mahi mahi) has been pretty consistent for us lately with plenty of action offshore. With upcoming lobster season you could take a swim on the way home and catch a few bugs for dinner and cool off from the summer heat.

Today is the opening of Grouper season! We have been catching plenty of qulity grouper just before the season opening. Mutton snapper have been heating up in the same areas we fish for groupe. With upcoming full moon these fish will start to spawn. We have also been cashing in on the Permit spawn and catching plenty. Book your trip soon. Fishing is starting to heat up as spring is right around the corner. During the spring bait is plentiful matched with good weather days and the fishing can be great. The redfish and snook were very aggressive eating artificial lures all day long for these clients. The wind was keeping us cool and the fish were keeping us busy. These clients got to experience it all seeing lots of wildlife and catch a bunch of different species of fish most of which were large. We saw tarpon slowly starting to show up on their yearly migration south so tarpon season is right around the corner.
