Let me start off by saying that the other reviews of Phil on this site aren’t just making stuff up or being nice - Phil earned every last star on this site. Getting started was a breeze - he called us and discussed our preferences and equipment needs, and ensured that we had a place to park as we came to the meeting spot.

The boat is beautiful, well-maintained, and rides very well. Phil knew the best fishing spots, both for getting a great view, as well as catching the right fish. My group was relatively inexperienced, but he happily showed us the ropes of proper baiting, casting, and most importantly - how to reel in the fish! He can be incredibly critical in the best ways possible! If you want to be serious, then he will definitely be firm-but-fair in helping you to be successful and learn how to fish properly and avoid common mistakes. His work is also very active - instead of just sitting in one spot and hoping for the best, he was constantly adjusting and searching for the catches!

Conversation with him was also a pleasure. I can confidently say that - at no point - were we bored or left confused. Whether talking about past catches or what’s in season at the right time, his story telling and willingness to share experience is first-class.

I surprised my boyfriend with a fishing trip and it was one of the best times. Captain Phil is a pretty cool person, conversation on the boat, the open water, views of the city; I don’t think I thought about anything all day, absolutely in the moment. We were having so much fun before the fish even started biting. Captain Phil was patient with me (I’ve never fished, not since childhood), explained the processes further, he truly loves being on the water and he won’t stop until he finds those fish. What a great day! Book here you’ll be thanking me. We will see him again when Salmon opens up!!
