I booked a 4 hour trip during my first ever visit to the Maldives with my partner.  Nashid and Shimal picked us up from our hotel at 6.15am prompt and took us to another atoll that they recommended.  As soon as we put both of the trolling rods out we had a double take within a couple of minutes and one wahoo was landed, over the course of the trip we caught around 7 or 8 Wahoo and also a couple of GT while lure fishing.  The guys were constantly trying new areas and tactics and made the most of the time we had.  On the return journey of our trip we saw lots of dolphins and also rescued a turtle caught in an old fishing net which the guys were quick to sort out.  I couldn’t recommend them enough, both extremely friendly guides and I cant wait to go back!

Where do I start, well looked on line and came across ‘Skull Fishing’ they looked good but you can never tell as there are so many! so may contact with them online and ‘Aisha’ helped and organised our trip for us, from the start Aisha was professional and helpful and talked through all the options, I decided to go with a 6hour fishing trip but Skull Fishing had a promotion so got another free hour which was great (I did not ask for) so arranged to be picked up from our resort by boat all perfectly on time, the two fishermen ‘Nashid and Shimal’ were absolutely fantastic, helpful, polite and funny very knowledgeable of where to go for fish, made my wife at easy as it was her first time ‘proper’ fishing, well got to first place and picked up some yellow fin Tuna within seconds so I knew the day was going to be a great one…..... we hd a mixture of jigging, bottom fishing and trolling and got many fish, unfortunately for me one of the biggest got away but thats how it goes…. I was so pleased with the day, was really a wonderful experience and could not give enough praise for the organisation to the finish, I guess my hight light was two things catching a Mahi-Mahi (dorado) and the eating this and the tuna for dinner back in the resort later. if you are going to the Maldives and you want to have a fantastic day on the water fishing Skull Fishing are defiantly the ones to book with - THANK YOU as we will cherish the memories and we hope to be back!

Insane. These boys know how to fish. Excellent boat, and excellent gear. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Professional and on time, gear was swapped out and re rigged between moves or on demand. Excellent rods and reels with plenty of good tackle. Jigging, popping, trawling… They do it all. Fly Fishing in 2019! (They let us cast fly at Tuna schools and teased up GT’s - own gear). F.A.D’s, reefs, they put us on to fish until we could no longer reel them in. Nashid and Shimal are excellent guides. Lunch of freshly cooked fish at Felidho island (cooked simply in local fashion, curry and grilled - they ask how you like it - was excellent). We caught mahi mahi, wahoo, skipjack, yellow fin tuna, and blue fin trevally, we missed some sails :(. As good as Exmouth and Great barrier Reef. Don’t be Fishless - go with Skull Fishing - prepare your arms! 0430 - 1500 beat the heat, be back in time for mocktails! (No alcohol on local islands - they will take you to a resort +$). Suggest 4 people Max.. it’s hectic, we had 2.. it didn’t stop.

I booked a trip with skull fishing while I was on holiday in the Maldives with my girlfriend, the process was easy and staff friendly, asked me what my target species were so the captain could prepare for the day.
I was picked up from where I was staying at 5:30am ready for the half day I booked, straight away moosa set up 2 trolling rods to try for some big fish first light, we had one knock on one of the rods but it never amounted to anything.
After an hour and a half we decided to come inside the reef to target one of my target fish a GT, the captain kept us moving around the reefs covering as much ground as possible to better out chances, I caught a small trevalli and a big fish gar fish, also missed what moosa said was a barracuda and frustratingly 4 GT to give my arms a rest we went to try some deep jigging, first drop my girlfriend had a small GT.
The trip was coming to an end and we done a bit of trolling on the way home, frustrated I hadn’t caught my target species I asked moosa if I could pay for a few more hours which he agreed, back to the popping and again took us to a few reefs covering plenty of ground I missed two more takes! Just wasn’t my lucky day, my girlfriend then hooked a nice blue fin travelli which fought hard. Last 15 minutes I hooked something big which I couldn’t stop! It dove straight down to the reef 8m bellow I wasn’t going to be beaten! The captain let me borrow his fins and snorkel to see if I could free it, unfortunately I found the lure under a table coral with no fish attached, moosa tells me it would have been a big grouper or snapper, oh well! Overall had an awesome day which we thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely do again next time we are here. Thanks again to moosa and all the staff involved with organising our trip, see you again.

We had a great day full of exciting moments!

Nashid and Hussain picked us up early in the morning at 5:30am from our Hotel Ozen by Atmosphere. It was still dark outside and it was a little bit scary for me, to be in the middle of nowhere in full darkness. Slowly the sun rise and we started to fish. Indeed, few minutes later, we had already the first catch in our hands. A over-a-meter Wahoo. What a great adrenaline kick!

After some minutes suddenly two fishes pulled the fishing line, at the same time… Some action for Christian, who expected to catch at least one fish during this trip. In total he caught 5 Wahoo and 1 Mahi Mahi ! What an amazing day.

Skull fishing has proposed to spend some time at a “shark spot”. We have been snorkelling at a riff together with 6-7 huge nurse sharkes. After a while, we went with the boad to a turtle spot and went also there for snorkelling.

Slowly we got hungry so we went to a local island, hang out at the beach while our fishes have been prepared for lunch. Our fresh fishes tasted great! The rest of the fish we have left for the local families… who can eat 6 fish for lunch?! J

After lunch we made our trip back and stopped at a Delphine spot. Suddenly we were snorkelling in the middle of a Delphine-group, swimming, playing and jumping around us… Certainly more than 30 Delphines. Wow, what a day.

Fully exhausted we have been dropped off by Hussain and Nashid at 4pm at our island.

This was the best experience I could ever do on the Maldives! Thanks Skull fishing – specially Nashid and Hussain -  for this magic moments!
