We booked a day fishing with Jacob for my son’s 13th birthday as he has always dreamed of catching a shark.  Sadly, we didn’t catch any (it’s still fishing- even the best guides can’t make the fish bite) but we still had a fun experience.

Here are the things that you should know: This is not fishing from a charter boat- you are fishing either from the beach, a rock jetty, or a pier.  Known as “Land Based Shark Fishing”.  The bait has to be either kayaked into position or else “drifted” there which means that you won’t be doing any casting.  Weather matters big time because if the surf is rough you’ll won’t be able to kayak the bait which means you’ll be fishing off of the pier with a lot of other anglers in all likelihood.  It’s a lot of waiting for the reels to start screaming.  Break offs are very common.  We had what we believed to be a shark on at least twice but almost immediately broke off both times. If you do land a shark the fight can be anywhere from a “short” 30 minutes to stories of all-nighters for the big guys. This is a unique form of trophy fishing and if you go into it with appropriate expectations you’ll have a great time.  Jacob, your guide, is as knowledgeable as anyone in this industry and you can consider yourself lucky to get the chance to fish with him.  Ask lots of questions and absorb all of the information that you can while you’re fishing- even if you don’t catch one today- you might fish for a lifetime with the information you can absorb!  Here is a link to the video of one of Jacob’s best days of shark fishing: **hidden content**

Had a great time the weather was nice however the fish were hitting the rods the whole time just not taking but props the Jacob for doing the best he could and constantly having to hop in the kayak constantly having to re-drop the bait because they hit it and take off with it but however he did get us a black tip and had a great time

We had the best time me and my family loved all 12 hours. They made us feel right at home laughing and joking around the whole time and sharing our own fishing stories and experiences. We can’t wait to go back to Florida in November to go back out and fish!

My family went out with Jacob and Daniel and they are great, just good people. We learned so much about sharks and the area and then pulled in a Huge 8ft Bull Shark. Thrilling and incredible experience. What I loved most was our family was about to leave since we had been on the beach for 4 hours and Jacob was going to stay no matter what—he truly loves this and doesn’t quit. So glad we stayed!’n

Capt Jake put in the work, kayaking into strong winds to get the massive baits were the sharks were.  Paid off with three 4-5 ft bull sharks landed during the 4 hour trip.  Have aching muscles and hand blisters from reeling in the brutes, well worth it!
