- At the age of 12, Captain Jay Trochesset worked with his father on the charter boat Gay Jay, deckhanding during the summers of high school and college. He purchased his first boat, the Silver Dollar, in 1974, and thus his career as a licensed charter boat captain began. As the business grew, Jay and his father J.P. spent the better part of three years designing and building the Silver Dollar I, a 50' fiberglass sports fisherman. In 1997, Jay christened his third boat the Silver Dollar II. He now operates the Silver Dollar III, a custom built 52' Catamaran purchased in 2009. Jay won People's Choice Award for Favorite Fishing Charters, Biloxi Business Men's Club Award for 50 years of Service in the charter boat business. His most memorable honor was being inducted into the IGFA Hall of Fame in 2016. Captain Jay's son, Dustin and Captain Leo run trips aboard 'Big Fish' and focuses on inshore light tackle trips.
